Foyles bookshop has joined forces with indie publisher Jacaranda for its Twenty in 2020 initiative, celebrating black British writers.
Maddy Price
Maddy Price is moving from Hodder to join Weidenfeld & Nicolson as its new non-fiction editorial director, while there are promotions for Lettice Franklin and Federico Andornino at the Orion imprint.
Adam Kay
Adam Kay’s This is Going to Hurt has bagged the Weekly E-Book Ranking number one for a second consecutive week, its 17th in total.
Derek Owusu
Stormzy’s Penguin Random House imprint #Merky Books has signed a two-book deal with "Mostly Lit" podcaster Derek Owusu.
Library
Ealing Council has approved plans to hand seven of its 13 libraries over to community groups in a bid to save £1.1m, sparking anger from library campaigners.
Alex Barclay
HarperCollins Children's Books has signed a two-book deal with Irish crime writer Alex Barclay.

This year's theme is
The Big Tent: Publishing for Everyone in Today's Divided World. We will be exploring how to ensure that all children have access to books and develop a love of reading in a world divided.

Speakers include Liz Cross
and Johan Palmberg, who are orchestrating a global campaign for Pippi Longstocking, and will discuss using innovative marketing and PR campaigns to make books stand out from the crowd. Kirsten Cozens from Walker Books who managed to get Jessica Love's gorgeous picture book Julian is a Mermaid in front of RuPaul, will also speak on the value of good PR campaigns.

Also announced are our fantastic keynotes, starting and finishing the day – Catherine Bell from Scholastic UK, and our new children’s laureate Cressida Cowell– and for the first time, Kirsten Grant from World Book Day will exclusively announce the 2020 World Book Day £1 titles!
