World On Our Doorstep @ Seven
Look forward to some truly
international spirit at Seven this weeknd with the Rum & Jerk
Caribbean Experience and RadhaRaman Folk Festival.
A Night of Music &
Spoken Word on Thursday
25 july, 7.30pm. The evening will feature performances by
the Leeds Clear Out Your Closet Collective with supporting music, and
will be led by a local spoken word and music professional Michelle
Scally Clarke.
Free entry.
New work theatre on
Friday 26 July, 7.30pm, Purple Theatre – Boxes,
in which close proximity shakes family identity, gender and race
certainties to the core. A War Veteran father from America trying to
fit into the British way of life and a white English mother unable to
face the real horrors of racial identity for her two children. Based on
a true story. £10 adv
/ £12 otd.
On Saturday 27 July,
7pm, is RadhaRaman Folk
Festival , a most exciting event. The finest
interpreter of Indian classical music Srimati Chandra Chakraborty is
performing this session, which will appeal to anyone from a global
tradition with profound interest in world-music. Come and appreciate
this divine and transcendental music.

Also, Friday 26 July
from 5pm - Sunday 28 July until 6pm, Outside @ Seven Rum &
Jerk Caribbean Experience. Think Jerk Chicken & other
specials plus a CariVegan (Vegan take on Caribbean food) stall and lots
of lovely rum cakes. Also live music over Saturday and Sunday from
Michael Graham on the Japanese Koto, Dudley Nesbitt & The Black
Peppercorns, The Stolen Bows and Little Mistakes. Inside @ Seven,
breakfast lite bites, mains and specials.
Rounding off events before a brief summer break, Wednesday 31 July.
8pm, Kill For A Seat Comedy
– Simon Munnery and David Longley. Simon Munnery,
‘He’s nothing less than a genius', Guardian and David Longley, “As
intense and intelligent a performer as you’re likely to see.” – The
List....plus special guests and your charmimg host, Silky. £11 /£9 conc. Doors 7.45pm
