Join us at the University of Westminster, London, on the 14th of December for an evening in conversation with award-winning author, William Ryan, and top literary agent, Sarah Manning, on the processes involved in getting published. Delve further into how to create a great submission pack, what agents are looking for, and much, much more.

Date: 14th December 2017
Location: University of Westminster, 309 Regent St, Marylebone, London, W1B 2HW
Price: £39 (including a glass of wine on arrival)
Time: 18:30 – 21:30

The evening will be split into two sessions:

Session 1 – Getting Published with William Ryan
This intensive masterclass will tell you everything you need to navigate the entire agent submission process. We’ll explain your basic strategy in approaching agents. We’ll tell you where to find them and how to build your shortlist. We’ll guide you through the creation of a strong, simple covering letter, and tell you exactly how to build a superb synopsis without stressing out about it.

We’ll have detailed notes available for all delegates, and you’ll go away with a real confidence that you know exactly what to do and how best to do it.

Session 2 – How to hook an Agent with Sarah Manning
Sarah will be focussing on the three main aspects of a submission that affect her decision to call in the full manuscript: cover letter, concept and writing style. This session will lay out what an agent wants to see from a cover letter and how to achieve this; what they really mean when they ask for a commercial concept; and highlight the most common pitfalls in those first three chapters.

And that’s not all. At the end, there will be a Q&A with a panel of literary agents AND one of our famous Slushpile Live! sessions, where you’ll get constructive feedback on your query letter, there and then.

Remember, our ‘Getting Published’ Masterclasses are designed specifically to get you closer to publication. Ensure you whip your cover letter into shape and bring it along on the night with you, to take part in Slushpile Live!

Best wishes,
