Former Children's Laureate Chris Riddell to appear
in Haworth in February 2018
We're building a truly wonderful programme of events for
2018, which will begin to be announced in the New Year, but we couldn't
resist sharing
some exciting news with you (call it an early Christmas
present!): Chris
Riddell, UK Children's Laureate 2015-17, will be
appearing in Haworth on
Tuesday 13 February.
The genius behind Goth
Girl and the Ottoline books will be leading Everyone Can Draw,
an illustration workshop for teens (Tickets £5), which will take place
from 2.30pm-4.30pm, before reading from and talking about his work in An Evening
with Chris Riddell, 'The Doodler' from 6.30pm
at the West Lane Baptist Centre. The event will be suitable for those
aged 8 and above, and tickets are £5 for children and £7 for adults. For full details of
both events, and to
book your tickets, head to our
website, or call 01535 640192 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm)
- places are limited, so please do book early to avoid disappointment.

Haworth in December - late night opening and more
Haworth looks so magical in the winter, as the nights draw
in, and we've already had our first snowfall! If you come along to visit
Haworth before the end of the year, make sure not to miss late night shopping on Thursday 14 December!
Stores throughout the village will stay
open until 8pm, as will the Museum and Shop. We'll be
welcoming local author Stephen
Whitehead, who will be doing a signing in the shop (we're
offering 10% off his books!), and the Museum will be dressed for the Christmas season.
Join us for a
glass of sherry, and don't forget that entry is free to
all those in the BD22, BD21, BD20 and Thornton postcode areas!
The Museum and Shop are open daily from 10am throughout December, only
closing 24-27 December. If you've not already seen Mansions in the Sky,
our 2017 exhibition curated by Simon Armitage, come along over the
festive period to make sure you don't miss out!

January events - behind the scenes exclusive and
much more ...
As you may know, the Museum closes for the month of January, while
we carry out essential maintenance and conservation work - it's our
busiest time of the year! The shop will open from 10am-3.30pm (4.30pm on
weekends, and excluding 8-9 January), and we'll also be offering free
fifteen minute introductory talks on
the Brontës in the Parsonage garden throughout the month, at 12pm each
day.
On Saturday 7
January, we're welcoming visitors to Parsonage Wrapped: Behind the Scenes at the
Museum for an exclusive peek at all that takes places
during our closed period, when we put the house to bed and undertake
delicate work on our collection and exhibitions.
We're going on a Winter Wander
on Saturday 13
January, uncovering stories of the village the Brontës
would have known on a special
storytelling adventure, led by some of our Museum Guides
and featuring encounters with John Brown and Tabitha Ratcliffe.
On Saturday 20 January,
we're really excited to welcome Dr Simon White of Oxford Brookes
University to Haworth, to help us in Mapping Magic. We need you to share
your local stories and folklore with us, and help to contribute to an
innovative online resource. Come along to discover more about Haworth and
the surrounding area, and for readings of magical poetry and prose!
Full details of all these events can be found on our website, and tickets
can be booked online or by calling 01535 640192.

And finally: THANK YOU
The team at the Museum would like to sign off our final
newsletter of 2017 by saying a huge
thank you to all of you - we have so enjoyed marking Branwell's bicentenary
and re-evaluating the much-maligned Brontë brother. We couldn't have done
it all without the support and interest of all of our visitors, members, followers
and subscribers, and we're so grateful to you all.
As 2017 draws to a close, all we can say is: watch this space for Emily 2018!
We can't wait to celebrate with you ...

From all at the Brontë Parsonage Museum.
