Gaelforce @ Seven


With so much stormy weather about  what could be more appropriate than Gaelforce.? This Celtic Folk Rock band performs at Seven next Friday 2nd February, 7.30pm, playing a mixture of rocked-up traditional folk music, self-penned songs in the traditional style, and a few jigs and reels for good measure. Tickets adv. £12.50 / o-t-d £15.

Before that there is much to look forward to. Tomorrow, Saturday 27th January, 4-6pm, Tim & Simon, are two affable middle-aged music-lovers who devise arrangements of their favourite classic songs for piano, guitar with two passable voices. They have yet to be sued by the 2 Pauls, Simon and McCartney, The Kinks, David Bowie, Steely Dan, Lou Reed, 10CC and Cat Stevens. 4-6pm Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel.

On Sunday 28th January 7pm, the Seven Quiz is well into its 2024 stride. Test your knowledge in a relaxed atmosphere – a great way to end the weekend with friends. This and every week. £5 per team entry. 7pm start. With prizes.

Silky & Friends returns for their monthly outing on Wednesday 31st January, 7:30 pm. Tonight’s show features Ruth from Blackpool; Keith is from Liverpool. They are Black Liver.  With support from Matt Fong & more. And, Silky as host. £12 / £10 conc.

On Thursday 1st February, look forward to Flamenco de Leeds. Rebeca Ortega, Natalia Marin and Ramon Ruiz return after a momentous sell out show in July 2023. Rebeca's dance comprises a vast repertoire and Ramon Ruiz is a flamenco guitarist with a unique yet instantly recognizable sound . Tickets £20. Doors 7pm.

Mewl Winter Warmers – Sugarwell Hill perform on Saturday 3rd February 4-6pm. This is a hard-driving, no-nonsense, excellent Old Time Americana trio. 4-6pm Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel.

Also on Saturday 3rd February, 7.30pm, Coffee After Therapy. This exciting new musical delves into the life of a recently-single woman, attempting to navigate relationships and career in an ever-faster 21st century. Tickets £15.

And roundng off the week on Sunday 4th February, 1.30-4pm, JazzLeeds – ‘4 in1”. The band plays music from the African American tradition, paying tribute to artists such as Thelonious Monk, Benny Golson, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. £12 /£10 conc. Under 16s free.

Holocaust Memorial Day (January 27)

The Holocaust and Genocides

January 27 marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.. Holocaust Memorial Day is the day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Darfur and eslewhere.
