No post work plans today? Early evening jazz is a great way to unwind. Tonight, Thursday 18th January, 7.30pm,  Screen Seven returns in a new monthly slot, opening with the blockbuster and Golden Globe winner, Oppenheimer. Christoper Nolan’s stunning biopic follows the American scientist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and his role in the development of the atomic bomb. Door 7pm. £7 advance or on the door.

On Saturday 20th January in our 4-6pm slot, Little Mistakes is an acoustic trio playing country, folk and bluegrass originals and covers. These musicians have been active for many years on the Leeds music scene, playing in a variety of styles in many different bands. Seven Bar. Pay What You Feel.

Also, on Saturday 20th January 8pm, Seven is proud to present Glastonbury favourite,  Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip. If you’ve never seen one of Mik’s show before, then expect the unexpected. It’s an incredibly daft, joyful, and sometimes poignant affair, as Mik tumbles around the stage, whilst the elegant engine room of Jonny Flockton & Gregg hold down the melodies. Great fun and great music. £16 advance / £18 on the door.

Big band sounds on Sunday 21st January 1.30-4pm with JazzLeeds – Ancient Infinity Orchestra. A welcome return for this 14-strong ensemble led by double-bassist and composer Ozzy Moysey. Their debut record drinks deep from the well of spiritual jazz and is especially inspired by the soulful sounds of Pharoah Sanders, Alice and John Coltrane.
Doors 1pm, £12/10 concessions. Under 16s free.

To commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day on Wednesday 22nd January, 7pm, Seven is hosting a screening of The Last Days. This Oscar-winning documentary, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, focuses on the plight of five Hungarian Jews who survived imprisonment in Auschwitz. A Pay What You Feel event. Organised by Leeds City Council.

JazzLeeds returns on Thursday 25th January 7.30pm with Ronnie Bottomley’s Last Ever Big Band. Drummer, arranger and author Ronnie Bottomley has been lighting up the Leeds jazz scene for all of his long life. This will be the last ever performance of his big band, the love of his life. Doors 7pm, Support band (tbc) 7.30-8pm. £22/£20 conc £11 under 25s.

Rounding off the week (and pretty much the month, but don't forget Silky & Friends on Wednesday 31st January), Tim & Simon on Saturday 27th January, 4-6pm. These two affable middle-aged music-lovers devise inoffensive arrangements of their favourite classic songs for piano, guitar, including the two Pauls (Simon and McCartney), The Kinks, David Bowie, Steely Dan, and more. PWYF, Seven Bar.

Also on Saturday 27th January, 7.30pm, Script Yorkshire - Page to Stage, a script-in-hand performance of short pieces of new writing in front of an audience followed by on-the-spot feedback from a panel consisting of industry professionals. £7
