'Viaje a Andalucia' @ Seven On Saturday 30th October, Marcos Morales presents ‘Viaje a Andalucía’. Morales is one of Cordoba’s finest dancers and teacers making his UK debut. He is the recipient of 1st national prize for ‘Aniya La Gitana’, Ronda, and 1st prize ‘Young Flamencos from Córdoba’ and has worked among the renowned Corral de la Morería, Café de Chinitas, Torres Bermejas, Las Carboneras & Corral de la Pacheca. Organised by Flamenco de Leeds. £20. Kate Peters and her Quintet returns to Seven with an exciting set on Sunday 31st October 1.30-4pm. What's On / November 2022   Newsletter November 2022   This November, expect entrancing puppetry in Little Angel Theatre's production of We're Going on a Bear Hunt (Wed 2 - Sat 5 Nov), inspired by Michael Rosen’s thrilling and funny adventure. Be transported to Giant Country, before arriving at Buckingham Palace to defeat the grisly child-eating giants in Roald Dahl's classic story, The BFG(Wed 9 - Sat 12 Nov), adapted for stage by David Wood.  The clock strikes midnight at the Carriageworks Theatre, as we open our annual, traditional pantomime, Cinderella (Fri 25 Nov - Sun 8 Jan). Starring Leeds' favourite Jez Edwards as Buttons, and welcoming back Aladdin (2021) cast members Aaron Steadman and Anna Phylactic as the wicked stepsisters. Join us this Christmas to find out if the glass slipper fits and if Cinderella will make it to the ball and home again before midnight. Taking you through the week, we’ve got such a wide range of shows, from family theatre, music is coming in HOT with a Bollywood bonanza with Bollywood Brass Band to some synth pop beats with Electromantics, theatre maker Liz Grand is returning to play the wife of a historical British figure in Mrs Churchill and (of course) Friday Night Live! This Week David Glover – THE LIFE STORY OF HALIFAX PARISH CHURCH (NOW MINSTER) Wednesday 26th October David tells the story of Halifax’s mother church in pictures. Now a Grade I building, the oldest surviving in the town, many are the alterations to the structure over the centuries, particularly the interior. What did the former gabled windows look like? Where were the galleries, one of which supported the organ of 1766? What did the font and the high altar look like in Anne Lister’s time? A pageant of rare old illustrations! Tickets Friday Night Live @ Square Chapel: Soul Food, Rebecca Baron, Alex Cairns Friday 28th October Friday Night Live @ Square Chapel – is a platform for emerging and local musicians to showcase their talents. Alex Cairns – is a percussive fingerstyle guitarist who enchants and captivates his audiences with his expressive playing on the acoustic guitar. With over 19 years playing experience, Alex has intricately crafted his technique and composing skills to create spellbinding music that takes you on journey of experiences through hopes & dreams, fears & woes and love & loss. Rebecca Barron – is a 20 year old singer/songwriter from Bingley. Her genres are mainly rock and acoustic. Back in January this year, she released her first EP “Wild Side” which is available on all major streaming platforms. She performs a mix of her original material and classic covers from the 90’s and 00’s. Soul Food – are a local lad duo hailing from Halifax. Playing original music with semi- acoustic flavours they lay down good vibrations. Tickets Electromantics Saturday 29th October Electromantics are a four-piece live band from the Northwest of England, featuring the robotic dance moves of ‘ManoChrome’, the synthesizer expertise of ‘Red’ and the incredibly versatile vocal abilities of both frontmen; ‘Gold’ & ‘Green’. Electromantics bring stunning live recreations of hits from the 80s New Wave, Synth Pop and New Romantic era to live music venues across the UK. Electromantics specialise in the Electronic sound of 80s New Wave, Synth Pop and New Romantic music. Stunning attention to detail, brings exact replicas of songs, originally made famous by the following artists, to live music venues across the UK. Tickets Mrs Churchill Sunday 30th October They say that behind every great man, there is a great woman. Was this true in Churchill’s case? What of Clementine, Winston Churchill’s wife for 56 years? Did he bully her like he did so many other people? Was he as grumpy and irascible at home as he often was in the House of Commons? Given his strength and conviction, did Clem have any influence on him at all? Or was she ‘the little lady at home’? All these questions will be answered, and many more, in Liz Grand’s superb, moving, sensitive and informative portrayal of Clementine Churchill. N’famady Kouyaté Monday 31st October An evening of modern interpretations of traditional West African Mandingue songs by talented multi-instrumentalist N’famady Kouyaté N’famady Kouyaté is a young energetic master musician from Guinea (Conakry), who relocated to Cardiff (Wales) in 2019. A talented multi-instrumentalist who wowed audiences across the UK and Ireland during autumn/winter 2019/20 with his modern interpretations of traditional West African Mandingue songs and rhythms supporting Gruff Rhys on the Pang! album tour. N’famady’s primary instrument is the balafon – the traditional wooden xylophone, sacred to West African culture and his family heritage of the griot/djeli.
