After Sylvia is an anthology of new writing celebrating the work and legacy of Sylvia Plath. Published by Nine Arches Press, the book honours the 90th anniversary of Plath’s birth through a range of compelling poems and essays by leading poets and scholars from the UK and beyond.

At this special pre-launch event, After Sylvia producer and co-editor Ian Humphreys introduces contributors Jennifer Lee Tsai and Sarah Wimbush in an exclusive preview of the book, which explores Plathian themes, such as Nature, Rebirth, Womanhood, Mothers & Fathers and Magic.

The event will include readings from the three poets and a short Q&A session.

On Saturday 8^th October, Keighley Library will be bursting with activity, not least Keighley Local Studies with a major investigation into local crime fiction, past and present. Please join us as local literary super sleuths and authors, Ann Dinsdale (Principal Curator of the Bronte Parsonage Museum) and Sharon Wright (journalist, speaker and author) thrash out the mysterious twists, turns and crimes in the life of the Revd. Austin Lee who was one of Keighley Library’s most borrowed crime authors in the 1950s with a curious fascination for Haworth and the Brontës.

Agatha Christie was one of the greatest and most prolific thriller writers of all time. In 1926, she was at the centre of a mystery as perplexing as any of her fiction; a series of events that sparked one of the biggest and most extensive police hunts in history. She was presumed dead by many but eleven days later, was found staying at a luxury hotel in Harrogate. The author claimed that she was suffering from amnesia and remembered nothing. Did she lie, or was it really amnesia? Was it a publicity stunt? Or was there a darker secret behind the disappearance that would affect her for the rest of her life? As in every good thriller, all will be revealed!

Along the way her hair decided the best thing to do was abandon ship.

It ain’t easy being a middle-aged woman: try doing it with a combover. Thankfully Zoe has been able to explore the funny side of all these twists and turns. It’s time to sell the silly car and try and put the wheels back on her life.
