This Saturday A great show in the evening and an opportunity to be heroic in the morning!   Saturday 15th October at The Holbeck Every year, for the last 30 years an absent father has sent his son an empty box for his birthday. This year, following his absent father’s death, the son decides to find out why.  Part autobiography, part exaggeration for comic and dramatic effect. The Long Way Home is a glorious, fantastical and absurd quest to come to terms with an absent father’s inheritance. A show devised by Ben Phillips in collaboration with John Wright (Told By An Idiot and Trestle) Suitable for ages 14 and over.   Time: 19:30 Date: 15th October 2022 Venue: The Holbeck, Jenkinson Lawn, LS11 9QX Tickets are pay what you decide (pay after the show with card/cash/online)       Whilst we have you... if you can spare a few hours Saturday morning to help us clear part of the warehouse floor, we would be eternally grateful. It's not heavy lifting but will be very mucky. We will reward you with bottomless cuppas and a nice lunch, and our eternal gratitude. Slung Low's Christmas Fayre 2022   Hello All, It's too early to be thinking about Christmas you say? Performance & Storytelling Get involved with our friends.      Perform in ACCA's much anticipated first full length show Occupational Hazard Are you aged 18+, love dance and theatre and want to perform in front of an audience? No experience necessary! Under 18 and want to get involved? The premiere will take place on Friday 9th December 2022 at 7:30pm at Slung Low, Holbeck and ACCA would absolutely love to you to be involved.   About the show: Meet Becky and Linda, ACCAirways’ creme de la creme. Fusing comedy, clowning and cabaret, Occupational Hazard is an easy takeoff and a bumpy landing into the world of navigating consent as a female in the service industry. Expect high energy dancing to questionable robot impressions with ACCA’s iconic flair for playfulness. You’re in safe hands when you fly with Becky and Linda, so sit back, relax, and let them lull you into a false sense of security. Boarding passes at the ready, this flight is about to take off! There are over 161,000 people over the age of 60 years old living in Leeds today; they have important, sometimes extraordinary experiences and gifts to share. Do you have a story to tell? Are you aged 60 or over and have a connection to Leeds? Your story doesn't have to be a long one; if it's true and means something to you then they want to hear it!  TPE are starting a series of conversations, discussions and creative activities at The Holbeck, the oldest social club in Britain, starting this October to gather stories and share them with local people at the club. They will hold weekly meetings every Tuesday 6pm-8pm from October 4th until November 29th. The sessions will be led by theatre director Alan Lyddiard assisted by Performance Ensemble member Pete Clarke. No experience is needed. Have a chat and a drink and a get to know each other, then start telling stories. From that you'll build a way to share these stories with others. Come and join in. It is completely free!
