Almost 20 years ago I resigned from my then publishing job, donned a
pair of Wranglers and cowboy boots, and headed for the great
Rocky mountains to work on a ranch in Montana. This is just one reason why
I’m obsessed with Yellowstone,
a brutal, rollercoaster of a drama series which is kind of like Succession
for the Wild West. Kevin Costner battles to keep his gazillion acre ranch
for his children (all of whom are variously damaged) against City
industrialists, who want to concrete it as a playground for the rich, and
the nextdoor Native Indian Reservation, who believe they have ancient
rights to his land. Ignore the stereotyping and leave any moral judgement
at the door, and just lose yourself in the drama – and those epic Montana
landscapes that I can still feel and taste 20 years later. They never leave
you.
Have a great week.

WHAT’S
EXCITING ME THIS WEEK
|
|

SPOOKY
NIGHTS
I blame Modern
Family for the UK’s obsession with Hallowe’en, which my
children get more excited about than Christmas. If you can’t beat ‘em, join
‘em – here’s where to celebrate.

BEAUTY
ADVENT CALENDARS
I’m sorry, I’m sorry for mentioning Christmas twice in an October
newsletter, but these beauties run out fast and do
make the countdown to the 25th December a little more luxurious.
