Cleckheaton Writer's Group (CWG) met on Monday 26 September at 5.30pm in Cleckheaton Library with Barbara, Gemma and Karen in attendance, Alice, Kathy and Michelle having given their apologies.
The minutes from the last meeting were passed.
WIP updates: Karen has been editing, has entered for a few scholarships and has written a drabble for the September writing challenge with the theme of Fall. Gemma has been editing. Barbara has written a funeral poem, a eulogy and some drabbles and short stories.
CW comps/workshops/events: Morley Arts Festival and Brighouse Festival are on, there is a 7 October deadline for the Future Book Awards and deadlines of 23 October and 30 October for the Curtis Brown Creative scholarships. Gemma mentioned that the Discoveries Competition is now open.
Feedback sessions: Barbara shared two short stories and Karen a drabble which were well received.
Writing plans: Barbara will write something. Gemma will write a drabble, maybe about psychopaths, and continue editing. Karen will continue editing and perhaps apply for the CBC scholarships.
Writing challenge: October theme Halloween/Ghosts
The next meeting will take place on Monday 10 October 2022 at Cleckheaton Library at 5.30-7.00pm.
