My writer friend John Clarke is running an online Creative Writing Course for the Workers Education Association starting on Wednesday 19th January, 1-3pm every week for ten weeks. There are still some places left. Further details here: Creative Writing: Creative Writing - Where The Road Runs out (C3680275) (wea.org.uk)
An opportunity for creative writers to improve their level. Based on Gaia Holmes's book Where the Road Runs Out, the course will involve reading and discussing poetry and prose exemplars. Students can also share their work with fellow students in a supportive environment and receive pointers from the tutor on how to further develop their work.
Course aim
A creative writing course based on Gaia Holmes's book Where the Road Runs Out. Reading and discussing the poems will be the starting point with an opportunity to produce both prose and poetry responses.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- talk confidently about the poems in Gaia Holmes's Where the Road Runs Out.
- explore a variety of creative responses to the prompts offered.
- look back on a body of my own creative work completed over the course.
- be confident about presenting my work to my fellow students.
- show listening skills and demonstrate how I've subscribed to the supportive ethos of the course.
What else do I need to know?
Experience of creative writing will be welcome but enthusiasm for reading, writing and discussing literature are more highly valued, as will a willingness to support colleagues in their efforts. A copy of Gaia Holmes's Where the Road Runs Out (Comma Press) is essential as are a pen and writing pad.
