Welcome to our monthly newsletter for October 2021,
sharing news and events from our Bridge programme and across
IVE – including opportunities, resources and funding for the
education and cultural sectors. This month, we're focusing on Diversity
and Inclusion.
THE FUTURE OF INCLUSION
Creativity has the power to do amazing things. It has the power
to change the world, if we let it. But creativity is nothing
without diversity and inclusion. Unless we celebrate difference
in all its forms, we will carry on doing the same
old things, in the same old ways.
INCLUSIVITY AND RELEVANCE, WHAT
DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?
“Achieving a fair and accessible cultural sector, which is better
placed to realise its creative ambition by drawing on talent from
all our communities”, is a key principle being worked towards for
many organisations in the creative sector today. For IVE this
means developing the potential of diverse groups of young people,
and building
creative and inclusive workplaces. We
are supporting education, creative and community sectors to
develop their understanding, expertise and motivation to reach
those underrepresented groups in our region. We are also working
with leading companies from across the region to help them embed inclusion within
cultures, values and practice.

New round of
micro-commissions
We're
launching a round of place-based micro-commissions in November to
help develop community-based offers for young people
who face the most barriers to arts and culture. We particularly
welcome applications from diverse backgrounds, early years
practitioners, and young practitioners who are just beginning to
develop their practice. Keep an eye on our website and social media for further details and instructions to
apply.

Diverse ideas for greater
innovation
We want
to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and
inclusion and how biases can affect working lives and impact
on organisational culture and performance. Our Diversity &
Inclusion Labs use a reflective approach to identify where and how
you can make sustainable changes to establish an
inclusive culture. We want to highlight the parallels
between the creative process and embedding inclusion in
organisations. To find out more, read our case study.
