As a teenager I was
obsessed with Linda Goodman’s book Star
Signs. I was so Virgo it was almost a joke (perfectionist,
industrious, a tad critical, maybe). But then I ditched any belief in
astrology, apart from absent-mindedly reading Shelley Von Strunkel’s weekly
predictions in the Sunday
Times. Now all I keep hearing are the words Saturn Return (a
potentially turbulent period that comes around every 28 years), and are you
ready for it? Thinking back to my late 20s, boy I had a seismic shift so
big I left a good job to go and work on a ranch in Montana for a year. Want
to know what I’m talking about? Sure you do… and if you’re
on your Saturn Return, let me know how you’re faring.
Have a great week.

WHAT’S EXCITING ME THIS WEEK

DOGGIE
DINERS
I have a five-year-old Border Terrier called Raffy. When he’s not whining
under someone’s desk entreating them to nudge his ball, he likes to come to
the odd meeting with me. Luckily London has so massively upped its game in allowing
dogs into restaurants that now he’s almost treated better
than me.

SOBERISM
It’s nearly the last day of January. Are you panting to pour yourself a
large G&T on Tuesday night having endured a month off the sauce or are
you toying with the idea of laying off the booze for longer – or even,
shock horror, forever. If you’re sober curious, there’s
a movement gathering pace and I might just join it.

RENT YOUR
SKI STYLE
I’m not one to hit Courcheval 1850, but if I were, I’d definitely be
renting all the gear (I don’t have the storage space let alone the expense
of kitting out a family). At new company EcoSki,
you can rent jackets from £2.37 per day and Patagonia snow pants from £2.94
a day. Complete no brainer.
