Make space for your writing this autumn with our online writing courses designed in partnership with the University of East Anglia. Over 12 weeks of inspirational teaching, exercises and assignments, you will receive personalised feedback on your work from the tutor and gain confidence in your chosen field.

Start Writing Fiction (12 weeks)

The perfect introduction to writing fiction for new writers and anyone wanting to write more regularly.
Become familiar with the basic elements of a short story Get to know your character inside-out and write incredible dialogue Develop your own writer’s notebook Familiarise yourself with re-drafting and self-editing Write a complete short story using what you have learnt
Choose from celebrated fiction writers Ashley Hickson-Lovence (The 392) or Yan Ge (Strange Beasts of China) as your tutor.
An Introduction to Scriptwriting (12 weeks)
Two places left
An all-encompassing introduction to scriptwriting, designed for those who are new to writing scripts for TV, film, theatre or radio.
Learn to work across various script forms Develop a pitch/story outline according to industry standards Gain a greater understanding of story structure and plot mechanisms Begin approaching agents and production companies
This course is led by Molly Naylor, a scriptwriter for theatre and TV (including BBC and Sky).
Writing Fiction: Next Steps (24 weeks) Deadline: 9am BST, Thursday 16 September
A six-month, in-depth writing course for writers with some experience. At this level you will experiment with more practical techniques, broaden the possible themes of your writing, and reconnect with finding a sense of play and adventure through words.
