COMPETITION
NEWS OCTOBER 2020
We've got
lots of competition news to share with listings, winners,
deadlines, the new micro fiction prompt for October and an
extended deadline.
First up, congratulations to the winners in the Best Opening Page
competition! The winner, Victoria Richards, has won a week's stay
at Casa Ana in Spain. You can read her novel opening and see the full
results here.
The winners of the September Monthly Micro Fiction comp, as chosen
by public vote, have also been announced. See the results here.
Congratulations to both winners and all of the shortlisted writers!
The prompt for the October
competition has gone live today and you
have until 23.59 (UK time) on Sunday 11th October to submit your
stories to win cash prizes and get published on the website.
The deadline
for the 1000-Word Photo Competition has been extended
until 18th October so get writing and send us your stories based on
the prompt. See the full details and enter here.
The deadline for the annual Short Story and Flash Fiction prizes is almost
here! You
have until 25th October to send your stories to win
great cash prizes and get published in the winners' anthology. Get
inspired by last year's winners in the fantastic, How to
Hold an Umbrella, anthology, which was published
last month and has been flying off the shelves and was recommended
by Kathy Fish to the students on her Flash Flash course! This
year's judges are Peter Jordan for the short story prize and
Susmita Bhattacharya for flash fiction.
We're busy reading the entries for September's Themed Flash Competition and will
announce the longlist on 22nd October. It's time to get writing for
the final themed flash comp of the year, which has a deadline of
29th December. The theme is BRIDGES and the judge is award-winning
author, Sandra Arnold, who published her brilliant flash fiction
collection, Soul
Etchings, with us last year.
Happy reading and writing!
