Kirklees Town Halls

hero

We are planning to bring the  Kirklees Concert Season  back to live audiences in Huddersfield and Dewsbury Town Halls from January to June 2021. Delaying the season will give us the best chance to run the concert series without disruption, and in front of an audience. In the meantime, we are delighted to announce a series of online organ concerts so you'll still be able to enjoy classical music performances from the comfort of your own home... Recorded by Kirklees Borough Organist Gordon Stewart, and featuring works by Handel, Bach, Mendelssohn and more, these concerts will be broadcast fortnightly on YouTube and Facebook, starting on Monday 14 September.

Monday 14 September, 1pm

Gordon Stewart introduces the series and demonstrates the famous Father Willis organ.

Monday 28 September, 1pm

The series opens with a typical Town Hall programme including Handel's Overture to the Occasional Oratorio, Bach's Prelude and Fugue in A Minor and Tombelle's virtuoso toccata.

Monday 12 October, 1pm

Gordon is joined by special guest Tom Osborne, co-principal trumpet of the Hallé Orchestra, in a programme stretching from Padre Martini to Ennio Morricone.
