YOU CAN BET WE'RE SOCIALLY DISTANCED
Everyone's favourite Lockdown gameshow returned to the car
park with a five piece house band (yes, people were dancing to
live music), games, special guests, pie and peas, and lots and
lots of baked beans! (Don't ask!) It was a cracking night.

INSULTED. BELARUS(SIA)
We were privileged to broadcast a new play: an urgent
cry from the heart by Belarusian playwright Andrei Kurichik. We
were one of over 40 theatre companies across 10 countries who
hosted readings in solidarity with the people of Belarus. It
was a special afternoon and left us all, particularly the actors,
feeling empowered. Listen again here

CULTURAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The Autumn Term kicked off with our online choir and pewter
casting in the Slung Low Wood. Most courses
sold out on the first day, so massive apologies to those of you
who missed out.
You can still join Choir at any point and Manjit's online cooking for
next month.

GOOD BLOOD
Earlier on the same Saturday afternoon, Keira Martin & Sioda
Adams brought to life a story of two northern working class
sisters through dance, song, storytelling and live music.
It were both reet humorous and proper moving. Not
sure there were a dry eye left in t'ouse (t'car park).

PROVOKED TO MADNESS BY THE BRUTALITY OF WEALTH
We rounded the month off with Gobscure's inspirational one person
show. This was the perfect way to welcome audiences back inside
The Holbeck Concert Room, with a sobering &
cathartic tale of revenge on the social worker who
questioned the need for a homeless person to want books.

THE LION
INSIDE
31st October at 2pm in The Holbeck Car Park
We're excited to be welcoming LAStheatre and their
joyous retelling of children's favourite 'The Lion
Inside'.
Fed up of being ignored by the other animals, Mouse wishes he
could roar like Lion. But, as he discovers, even the biggest,
bossiest people are scared sometimes…and even the smallest
creatures can have the heart of a lion!
Based on the
award-winning book by Rachel Bright and Jim
Field, LAStheatre’s production for 4 to 7-year olds and
their families is about confidence, self-esteem, and a shy
little mouse who sets out on a journey to find his roar.

SIGNAL FIRES
31st October at 7pm in The Holbeck Car Park
In October and November, fires will light up across the UK with
storytellers and audiences sharing in one of the original forms
of theatre. The fires will signal the vibrancy of touring
theatre, and the threat our industry continues to face.
From spectacular bonfires to digital blazes; the nation’s leading
touring theatre companies will present a series of theatrical
events at locations across the UK in celebration of our
fundamental need to tell stories.
We will light a bonfire in front of the club, and have invited
story-tellers, poets and musicians to gather around it, with you,
to tell tales lit by the flames.
Featuring Nima Taleghani, Iain Bloomfield and music from Claire
Marie Seddon and Boff Whalley.
And yes, the bar will be open with table service in the car
park.

Keep an eye on our socials for
more upcoming shows this autumn.

Ramp presentation
for The Holbeck
Facebook Live
- Thursday 8th October at 7pm

|
|
We have
good news! Following some generous donations, we are now able to
start phase one of the redevelopment work to begin to make The
Holbeck more accessible: ramped access into the building,
including a new front door.
We would've loved you to come down in person for drinks and
nibbles and a chat but sadly this isn't possible yet. So please
join us live on the Club's Facebook on Thursday 8th October
at 7pm for a short presentation of the proposed changes, a chance
to see the architectural plans and ask us any questions you may
have. We will also introduce what we hope to achieve in phase
two, which includes installing the lift, once we have the funding
in place.

As the year
becomes even more challenging for so many people, we are seeing a
rise in the number of households requiring our
support.
If you would like to pitch in with our social care referrals
in any way, we particularly need drivers, please get in touch or call us on
07305 155698.
Big thanks in advance! x
