Big Apple Time Lapse
Let's look at the

buildings once were. This decade long photo journey from NY Curbed gives us a
glimpse at side by side comparisons of several spots.
Find out what has
stood the test of time and what has disappeared. Although time passes
quickly, visuals like these allow New Yorkers to marvel at concrete jungle's

Smith & Sinclair Pop-up
Sponsored by:
The brilliantly
fun and edible experience at Smith & Sinclair’s Adult Candy Shop in the
West Village is nearing the end of its visit to New York! The London-based
confectionery company set up a holiday pop-up on 66 Greenwich Ave that
brought a fun, new way to get a buzz going this holiday season with their
alcohol-infused gummy creations.
The last day of
the Adult Candy Shop is this Sunday, December 22.
There’s still time
to pop in to try and take home some of the shops' delights. You can get your
hands on their many creations like their Alcoholic Cocktail Gummies, Cocktail
F.I.Z.Z. and Edible Glitter Dust. It’s a sensory experience that both
entertains as well as educates!

Housing for LGTBQ
New tenants are excitedly
moving into the Greene Park's newest housing development Stonewall House. The
145 apartments in Brooklyn are aimed at LGBTQ seniors.
The historic
landmark will provide those living there with a safe environment and a strong
sense of community. Those moving in will also find support in the affordable
housing costs.

Cutting Trump Ties
The scandalous
presidency of Donald Trump has gained backlash from New Yorkers over the
years, enough to lead to the city's removal of the Trump Organization.
Contracts with numerous properties and projects all over the city, one in
Central Park, might be on the chopping block soon.
The city council
is asking that Mayor de Blasio refuse to renew contracts with the Trump
Organization moving forward. Although Manhattan Councilman Mark Levine is
hopeful, similar deals have been proposed in the past with no success.

Art Saves the Day
The Small Theater
Industry Cultural and Economic Impact Study recently looked at the obstacles
theaters in NYC are facing as well as their size, location, design, economic
importance, and cultural significance. The study found the small theaters
contribute an amazing $1.3 billion to the economy, $512 million in wages and
8,400 jobs.
The industry grew
between 2014 and 2017 by about five percent, outdoing the city's economic
growth rates by four percent. It seems like New Yorkers love a good under the
radar indie film after all.

Free Ticket to Ride
Kansas City is
inspiring visionaries with their no costs transportation system. A new bill
passed would cover the fare of $1.50 for every rider, thanks to the
$8,000,000 set aside by the city's manager.
If New York were
to implement this system, it is said the crime rates, police supervision and
incidents of fare evasion within our public transportation spaces would
decrease. How would you benefit both financially and otherwise from free
subway rides?

Behind Rising Rent
The cost of living
continues to rise at disturbing rates for some neighborhoods. According to a
recent study, the median price point for two Brooklyn neighborhoods increased
by 200 percent between 2010 and 2019.
The study included
a top 10 list of the most expensive neighborhoods to reside in and 8 of the
10 were in Brooklyn. What does this mean for the quality of life for New
Yorkers living within their means?
