Creative Future

A happy, healthy, holiday season to you all

It's been a busy few months here at Creative Future, with our SOLD OUT Writers' Award showcase, our first-ever Writers' Day in London Literature Festival and our successful crowdfunding campaign to keep the Writers' Award FREE to enter, it's safe to say a well deserved festive break for the CF team is just what the doctor ordered!

Firstly a HUGE thanks to everyone who donated to our crowdfunder. We needed to raise £2,000 to keep the CFWA 2020 competition free to enter, and we did it! It's really important that we don't just charge an entry fee as many of our entrants don't have direct or secure access to IT or online payment accounts. Keeping it free removes a big barrier for those we want to reach, so THANK YOU for all your support in donating and sharing our campaign.

Opening hours

During the festive season, the Creative Future office will be closed from Wednesday 18 December at 5pm, reopening Monday 6 January at 9am.

We wish you all a wonderful and restful break. Thank you for your continued support in 2019.

We'll be launching Spotlight Books in the new year and are really excited for these beauties to be out in the real world. It's our collaboration with New Writing South and Myriad Editions to discover, guide and support writers who are under-represented in publishing.

You can find out more about each book and pre-order your copies (just in time for any gifts) via Myriad's website. They're just £5 each or grab all six for £25.

Below are a few snaps from the Writers' Award showcase:

"Once again, I was blown away by the quality of the readings at the ceremony. It was the kind of evening that deepens one’s connection with the act of writing, reminds us of the importance of the spoken word and the necessity of hearing diverse voices."

Thank you to the The Writing Coach for a wonderful feature on our Writers' Award showcase.

Help keep the Writers' Award free to enter!

The Creative Future Writers' Award is the only free competition for all under-represented writers--those who face extreme barriers due to health, mental health, disability, identity or social circumstance.

Can you help?

We get over 1,000 entries from writers across the UK...including from secure mental health units, prisons and care homes. Most of these talented new writers are unemployed and on benefits.
For many, it's the first time they've entered a literary competition--the first step on their journey as writers.

We want to pull barriers down for them, not put them up...

Help us keep it FREE TO ENTER

We need to raise £2,000 to keep the CFWA 2020 competition free to enter...can you help us bring these new voices from the margins to the mainstream?
We've got some great rewards as thanks too...

HOME is an anthology of winning entries from the 2019 Writers' Award competition.

You’ll find inspiring short stories and powerful poems reflecting on the theme of ‘home’—from talented new voices, as well as acclaimed authors Kerry Hudson (Lowborn), Mahsuda Snaith (How To Find Home) and Anthony Anaxagorou (After the Formalities). Also featured is award-winning poet Pat Winslow, and our 2019 Writer In Residence, Emma McGordon.
