Creative Kirklees Newsletter 10 December 2019

Not surprisingly there is plenty of music to enjoy in Kirklees this week and in the run up to Christmas. There’s still time to enjoy the University of Huddersfield Brass Band concert in Dewsbury on Wednesday 11 December at 12:30pm with treats from holiday classics, Yuletide greats and audience carols. You can get a taste of what’s in store with this clip from Monday’s concert in Huddersfield – a musical feast!

For those who enjoy a good film, there’s a selection box of screenings at Holmfirth Film Festival's 2019 Christmas film show from 20 - 22 December at Holmfirth Civic Hall – including family films, Aardman animation and films for the grown-ups. Get your tickets booked for a weekend of film before Christmas.
To find more events go to our What’s On page and keep in touch during the week on Facebook and Twitter.

Creative Kirklees Newsletter featuring the Kirklees Concert Season - 26 November 2019

We’re featuring the Kirklees Concert Season today, which has a delightful selection of concerts coming up in December, starting with the return of the annual lunchtime Christmas Brass Band concerts, and the Music for Christmas Concert with Gordon Stewart accompanied by the Huddersfield Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs.   The Orchestra of Opera North will be performing “The Nutcracker and The Snowman”, two enchanting Christmas tales for the whole family told through music, narration and animation as well as their Christmas Concert and the Viennese Whirl.
Before then, Bluebeard’s Castle will have you on the edge of your seat - a spine-tingling concert performance as colossal orchestral scores pair with a tour-de-force vocal thriller this Thursday evening, and a special lunchtime organ concert is being held on Monday, as Gordon Stewart celebrates local composer Andrew Carter’s 80th birthday, when he will be joined by mezzo-soprano soloist, Elinor Carter and trumpeter, Tom Osborne – this promises to be a real treat of a lunchtime concert!
Do enjoy our newsletter and please don’t forget to check our website - there are just so many fabulous creative activities and events to get involved in over the next few weeks.
