Salty Kiss @ Seven

Salty Kiss? No, not a ground-breaking piece of theatre, but check out our latest vegan beer, brewed by Magic Rock - first choice of Millennials....and the perfect accompaniment to Afsaneh's Persian Exprience. Choose from a selection of Mazzeh (small plates) from this Masterchef finalist 2012 and Oliver award winner 2019. Friday 6 & Saturday 7 December.

Food and drink aside, great events coming up, start tonight, Wednesday 4 December, 8pm, with Super Trooper Improv Comedy  This is a “gut-bustingly funny” and totally improvised games and sketches comedy show. Every show is brand new and made up on the spot based on your suggestions – similar to classic TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway. £8 adv / £10 on the door.

Tomorrow, Thursday 5 December, 8pm, JazzLeeds presents Karen Sharp Quartet. Part of this autumn’s women in jazz series, a welcome return of award-winning saxophone player Karen Sharp with her long- established line-up of Nikki Iles, Dave Green and Steve Brown – world class musicians who also happen to be great friends. £16 /£14 25 and under £8.

Thought-provoking theatre on Friday 6 December, 7.30pm, in the guise of Effie’s Burning by Thought-Chain Theatre. Effie, who has lived in mental institutions since she was a little girl, has been admitted to hospital with severe burns. Treating her is Dr Ruth Kovacs, who finds in Effie’s story of injustice and official callousness, the key to her own.  £10 / £8 conc.

On Saturday 7 December, 7.30pm, Flamenco de Leeds presents CalleJondo Flamenco. Join us for a night of Flamenco! CalleJondo is a flamenco dance theatre show that pictures both the flamenco street art and tablaos of Seville. £16 adv / £18 on the door.

What are the two greatest jazz albums ever made? On Sunday 8 December, 1.30-4pm, Fergus Quill’s Sextet set out to recreate the magic in the JazzLeeds concert, “Tribute to Miles: Kind of Blue & Milestones”. £10 /£8 25 and under £5.

On Monday 9 December, 8pm, the last movie of the the Screen Seven autiumn season, Cold War. Set against the background of the Cold War in 1950s Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris, this is the tale of a couple separated by politics, character flaws and unfortunate twists of fate – an impossible love story in impossible times. A truly fabulous film. £6 on the door.

Seven Live returns on Wednesday 11 December, 6-7.30pm, with Choir of Loretta. An original modern entertaining Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica, Suitcase duo playing Yorkshire Americana; featuring Elli on Banjo and Vocals and Jeff on Guitar and Vocals. Seven Bar PWYF

And, finally, also on Wednesday 11 December, 8pm, is Murder Inc. This month's theme, 'Death's Behind You!' The show is a wholly improvised crime story. It’s your job to make your best guess of ‘whodunnit’ before the show is over and one winning detective team will take home a prize. All this excitement AND free nibbles in the break. £8 adv/ £10 otd.

Tickets for most events are found at  www.ticketsource.co.uk/sevenleeds/events Where not sold out, tickets are always available on the door.
Every £ spent at Seven helps support high quality arts in a local setting. We look forward to seeing you at Seven very soon.

What's up New York,
Happy Wednesday, the snow has arrived with December and in its honor, we've whipped up a Winter Weekend Guide🎼🧣
Brisk weather may stop some from getting physical but Row New York is still arming athletes for success on the water. 🛶
Crowds of determined high schoolers took to protesting integration in Manhattan on Monday. 🗣💪🏽
Those struggling with housing costs in the elderly and youth communities will experience relief from the new housing program. 👵🏻👶🏼

Feeling Festive

This weekend's Winter Guide kicks off our shift into snow days and pillow forts. Instead of turning into a hermit, stay active by attending one of the exciting and social gatherings on our round-up of events. Grab a bite to eat with friends, try watching a live performance or create a new exciting cocktail.

Rowers Go To Uni

Row New York's initiative to reach youth in the boroughs pays off for another season. In an interview with rower Sebastiana Lopez, she discusses how the athletic program has given her opportunity.
The program offers rigorous training on racing vessels as well as academic support that sets members on the road to college.

Fighting for Integration

The prestigious student body at W 44th's Beacon led a strike this Monday. In honor of more diversity and inclusive admissions processes, high school students turned out with signs and chants.
The push for inclusion was not supported by faculty, penalizing participants for missing class.

Housing Homeless Youth

A new program is assisting the elderly with living costs in NYC. Eligible renters with empty space can now house someone in need of housing. In exchange for assistance with upkeep and other tasks seniors might find difficult on their own, homeless youth will have a place to stay.
The Home Sharing Program not only assists with living conditions but also creates a new possibility for social growth that counters isolation.

NYC Giveaway

Just for you is a two (2) night weekend stay for two (2) at Hyatt Centric New York. There will be daily breakfast at the hotel for two(2).
This prize for valid for an entire year once you win it! It also comes with other goodies: two (2) tickets to Rosé Mansion, one (1) bottle of Rosé, a private cabana to relax on, two (2) pairs of sunglasses, two (2) Rosé Mansion t-shirts, a $250 VISA gift card from Brooklyn Based and services from Glam&Go!
