Get Your Gifts
It's about more than
just shopping and compiling items or material. The seasonal craft fairs of
the upper west side are about experiencing the Christmas spirit.
Visitors can
survey the participating vendors' elegant art, handmade pieces, edible goods,
and more artisan products for sale. If you're adventurous, attend the fair

Squeaky Flies
David Lynch's
multidisciplinary work is drawing in crowds of art lovers. His "Squeaky
Flies in the Mud," speaks to humanity's experience through text and
imagery.
The surrealist
undertones merge dreamlike visuals with relateable texts that ground viewers.
The in-between state of creation makes for an immersive and stimulating
event.

Exhibit Destruction
David Datuna
became one with the $120,000 work "Banana on the wall," at Art
Basel. When the artist took a bite out of the banana, he swears he did so as
an act of performance art.
Most are
perceiving the act as vandalism or a publicity stunt. What do you make of the
incident considering the pieces price point and the prestige of Art Basel?

Protecting Avian Life
New York's architecture
is taking a stand to protect birds moving forward. The City Council's new
bill will mandate the materials used in building windows to decrease the
number of bird deaths taking place.
Thousands of bird
collisions end in fatality because of material used now and with the
conversion, the new windows would be glazed or patterned to increase
visibility. A staggering 230,000 birds die due to imperceptible windows each
year.

Climate Fight
A recent protest
took place addressing climate change and it was thanks to 1,000 teens.
Although they aren't old enough to vote, the young environmentalists took to
City Hall with signs and concerns this past week.
Voicing their
concerns about fossil fuel use and damage, the troop garnered plenty of
attention. Important issues like deforestation, flooding and more were also
brought to the table.

Pooch Takes Limelight
Some panels have a
keynote speaker or a special guest and PetCon NYC has Mochi. The pug has gone
viral on social media and dog mom Gemma Gené monitors his accounts.
Approximately
288,000 followers adore Mochi online as cartooned by Gené, who is also a
talented artist. The 7-year-old pug is the star of her book, “My Life with
Mochi" which has allowed Gené to pursue her illustrative career full
time. In today's digital age, there's no limit to success.
