Christmas Tree Graveyard
Families have
selected gorgeous pine trees for their holiday decor but once the new year
arrives, where does the tree end up? Instead of crowding sidewalks, corners,
and dumpsters with large green trees, the city has proposed something else.
Mulchfest will
claim the carcasses of Christmas trees that are no longer needed and keep
streets clear. Find out how you can dispose of your own tree or help someone
you know transport their own bright green tree.

Green Is for Go
The City Council
has decided to give bicyclists a head start in crowded NYC streets. During
commutes across intersections with Leading Pedestrian Intervals, bikers can
cross before cars.
The new rule means
that bikers will look to pedestrian signals to prompt movement instead of
normal traffic lights. Council members are hoping to save bicyclists from
vehicular accidents with the extra time.
