Short Story Spotlight
Winner
of the 2014 Hugo Award for Best Short Story, John Chu’s story is full of both
magic and science fiction. Instead of rain, in this world water falls on you
whenever you tell a lie. Seems like it would only make life difficult for
those trying to get away with things right?
However, for our
main character Matt, this world presents a real problem for him. His lover
questions him on the idea of marriage while he still hasn’t found a way to
“come out” to his not-so-forward-thinking parents. An interesting tale on the
human psyche, this story truly makes the reader think.

Historical Art
A
rare collection of fifteenth to nineteenth century Japanese armors have been
amassed at the Met’s latest exhibition. Armor, blades, helmets and more are
on display in what is a rare event.
Recently restored,
the collection includes a rare complete armor set (gusoku), a wave-shaped
helmet and a blade from a famous fifteenth-century warrior. Already the most
incredible collection of Japanese armors outside of Japan, these additions to
the Met only further their outstanding dedication to art and history.

Rising Talent
Friends
with fellow rising star A Boogie With A Hoodie, rapper Don Q started making a
name for himself in the Bronx, and his skill took him across the city. He
first started getting real hits after his freestyle for the popular radio
show Funkmaster Flex’s Freestyles on Hot 97.
Besides A Boogie,
Don Q has teamed up with PnB Rock (both of whom played at SUNY New Paltz in
May), Russ, Dave East and even Meek Mill. His latest release has a stacked
lineup of features that would make any other rapper jealous.
