Figures in the industry have responded to calls from this year’s Man Booker judging panel for tighter editing, with some voicing anger at an undervaluing of the editorial process.

Chatto & Windus has signed an "unflinching" new novel from Sadie Jones called The Snakes, telling the story of a marriage and a family whose sins come back to bite them. 
Cengage has reached a resolution in the court case which had seen two authors file a suit in the US over the inclusion of their work in Cengage's subscription service, Cengage Unlimited, launched late in 2017.
