Open Mic Poetry Night
Poet / Spoken Word artist call out - DEADLINE Monday 24 September.

Part of The Othello Project
Saturday 13th October. 7.30 – 9.30PM
Laurence Batley Theatre.

The LBT is producing an event to coincide with English Touring Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of Othello. The Othello Project event will include outdoor musical performance, scratch performance showcases, a poetry evening and South Asian street food, along with the two main house productions of Othello that day.

A number of open mic slots are available for the poetry evening which will be hosted by Afshan D’Souza-Lodhi, the Manchester based Slate enabler. As well as a performance slot, we can offer up to £10 to cover travel expenses for each poet.

To apply for a slot we need to know from poets -
  • Name you use for performing
  • Contact e-mail
  • Language the poems are written / performed in
  • Where you are based
  • A sample of a poem or links to any performances
  • Any specific content or trigger warnings within your poetry

Send the above information to katherine@thelbt.org.uk by 12pm on Monday 24th September. After this time we’ll be in touch to confirm who has a slot on the night. Performance slots are limited but we’ll be aiming to make sure the mix of poets is diverse and representative of different languages and cultural heritages.
