5 Things to Do This Weekend

For the coming Halloween weekend, we've found some great activities in town and country that won't make your skin crawl – from a special afternoon tea, to the scariest show in the West End.
Looking for something a little more child-friendly? We've got that covered too – just take inspiration from our guide for half term ideas. Foodies should head to central London for some rather special pop-ups, while perfume enthusiasts have much to look forward to with a special workshop at Keyneston Mill that's not to be missed!

Perfume Workshop at Keyneston Mill

Ever wondered how some of the world’s most luxurious perfumes are created? Head to Keyneston Mill to learn all about the fascinating art of perfumery this November.
Keyneston Mill is the largest private botanic gardens in the UK dedicated solely to aromatic and scented plants, and is where the key ingredients of Parterre perfumes are grown, harvested and distilled.
To celebrate the launch of the new perfume house, Keyneston Mill will be holding an exciting and interactive perfume workshop which scent enthusiasts won’t want to miss. Guests will discover how fragrances are created and explore fragrance ingredients and olfactive families, with the help of Virginie Daniau, President of the British Society of Perfumers.

Book it now! ‘The Creation of a Perfume – Botany, Artistry, Adventure’ will take place on Friday 3rd November at Keyneston Mill, £110 per person. To secure your place, contact events@keynestonmill.com or call 01258 456 831

Zuma's 15th Birthday Menu
There are only a few days left to try Zuma's special 15th birthday tasting menu. Created by Zuma co-founder and creator, it will feature all the big hitters plus some exciting new dishes. Wine and Sake pairing highly recommended. Until 31 October

Haunted Afternoon Tea

Head to the Royal Lancaster London to experience the Halloween Afternoon Tea, inspired by 1960s classic horror movies. A ‘very cold welcome’ awaits you, with Alfred Hitchcock classics flickering from a projector and The Little Shop of Horrors’ Audrey sitting on your table.

Savoury treats include Axe-Carved Beef with Horseradish; the Ominous Crab Sushi and the Pitch Black Pudding Scotch Egg, while sweet treats come in the form of Cursed Blackbird Macaroon; Psycho Marbled Lollipops; Black Sunday Battenberg; Night of the Living Tart; and a Haunted Panna Cotta. Until 31 October.

Read our guide to the spook-tacular goings on in London that'll make this Halloween the classiest yet.

Halloween Happenings

The Exorcist, The Phoenix Theatre
Guaranteed to be the scariest show in the West End, The Exorcist takes to the stage for the first time at the Phoenix Theatre. They are coining it a ‘unique theatrical experience’, so we assume there is some element of audience participation. Until March

Haunted Warwick Castle
Warwick Castle transforms into a Haunted Castle, spooky treats for all ages – with ‘light-hearted fun for Scaredy Squires’, ‘hair-raising scares for Daring Dukes’ and ‘total terror for Brave Knights’. Until 31 October

End of Half Term Activities

Run out of half term activity ideas? Fear not – we’ve rounded up the best special events and nationwide diary dates to keep the little ones in good spirits!

Why not head to Kent’s largest animal park Port Lympne? This weekend, visitors can partake in activities such as an eerie enrichment workshop, treat-making for the animals and especially for Halloween, pumpkin carving sessions too. Get spooked in the prehistoric Dinosaur Forest and follow the trail through the millions of years to win a prize. There’s even a creepy carnivore tour at dusk for the extra brave.

The Rewind/Unwind
Hey there, folks! It's been a long week but we'll take it from here.
We're feeling pretty good about Prospect Park's car ban. While it may affect some commutes, most of us see the park as an oasis away from all that city noise and stress.
And if you haven't heard, Joe Girardi is out as Yankees' General Manager. His ten-year run had its ups and downs. See ya, Joe!
Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow's much-anticipated Halloween Guide!
Stay spooky. 👻

Just one week left in October. Where did the month go?
Something to look forward to in 2018—Prospect Park will officially be car-free starting January 2.
Were you aware that TGI Friday's is officially stepping their game up and bringing Baby Back Ribs🙏😋 to their already stacked menu?
Finally, Ouidad truly understands how to embrace your (mind of their own) luscious, curly locks.💆🙌️️
These fellas explored NY with a germ counter to find the grossest spots in the city. 😷👀🔎 Citi Bike handlebars took the cake for the dirtiest spot.
Now THIS is the kind of generosity we need around here *cough cough* take notes NYC *cough*. This adorable village in Italy🇮🇹 is literally paying people to move there and now we’re considering it.
Baby Backs
Did you hear that TGI Friday's is trying their hand at the rib game?

Yup, you can now enjoy their signature Jack Daniel's barbecue sauce atop hunks of chewy, meaty goodness.

This change is part of a larger effort on the chain's part to "elevate their bar-centric menu" with tons of new items and sides.

Good for you, Friday's! We see you working. Read more…
Scenic Route
A summer experiment that panned out well is becoming permanent thanks to the latest edict from Mayor Bill De Blasio!

Starting this January 2nd, both East and West Drives of Prospect Park will be closed to vehicles—for good!

De Blasio framed his decision as aiming to preserve the park as a “safe, quiet refuge for Brooklyn’s families”. We're all for keeping one of the city's greenest spots as friendly and smog-free as possible!

And no need to worry about increased travel times—the impact on them is projected to be miserable! Read more…
Curly Hair Don't Care
Sponsored by:

Trust us, these people are no joke. They're the experts when it comes to all your curly hair needs, and they'll step your hair game up pronto.

Ouidad has been making people look and feel good, helping make curls a blessing years. Check it out

Eeeeewww
Men's Health Mag went on a little scavenger hunt around NYC with a handheld "germ counter" to see just how gross this city is.

The results were—surprise surprise—gross. There's a TON of germs literally everywhere, but especially Citi Bike handlebars. Like dirty-than-subway-poles gross

Molto Bene
This is so tempting, it seems way too good to be true.

This beautiful, low-key, and incredibly charming Italian Village is actually willing to pay people to live there...

We'd really love to see more of that generosity around here wouldn't you agree?

This is for real, several families have already made the move and a bunch others are applying. Interested?

The Rewind
Missed yesterday's edition of The Stoop? Don't fret:
There's a hip hop museum to open in The Bronx.
This Soho hole-in-the-wall is the secret Mecca of graffiti culture.
And finally, an incredibly cathartic piece of why everyone on the subway hates you.
