Writer Tamsin Cook hosts a Spoken Word workshop exploring how the idea of ensuring workers receive a fair living wage is as relevant today, as it was in Victorian Britain.

The Ruck
An inspirational story from Batley to the stages of Yorkshire

Creative Scene and The Lawrence Batley Theatre's first co-production The Ruck toured to various Yorkshire theatres this September including a sold-out premiere weekend at The Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield.

The Ruck is the new play from Kevin Fegan, inspired by his time with national league champions Batley Bulldogs U16 Girls' Team travelling Australia's Gold Coast.

Read reviews in Yorkshire Post, The Stage and British Theatre Guide

"The Ruck is a charming and sweet-natured show that casts some much-deserved light on the sporting achievements of young British women"

Creative Scene director hits the headlines

Director Nancy Barrett featured in the Yorkshire Post this September. The interview maps Nancy's own first involvement in the arts via poetry and irish dance, through to the art she is excited to produce and present with Creative Scene today.

"I have always loved exploring new places, their history, geography, buildings and meeting new people and finding out their stories"
Nancy Barrett, Director

Making a Scene
