All
the latest Arts Festival news here...
We are
proud to welcome Sarah
Corbett back to The Egg Factory on Saturday 28 October
for an evening of lively discussion with Helen Meller,
Director of the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival and to launch
her new book 'How to be a Craftivist'. Tickets are £5 (or £15 to
include the book) and can be booked here. On Sunday 29 October
the brilliant Helen Baron at Ribbon Circus will be will be running
a 'Positive Note-Craftivist Workshop with Sarah
Corbett' with all funds going to MIND, more info here places are limited so be
quick!
Alongside
our annual arts festival, we work year round to deliver projects
for the over 65’s (Cafe Culture), for young people (Nova Collective) and to support
local artists, businesses and community groups, keeping our
town vibrant, inventive and exciting. With a tiny core team we
are seeking new ways to develop our work all year round with our
diverse community and we need more funds to make this happen. Could
you help? Donating a small amount - £3, £5 or £10 a
month could make a massive difference and if you donate on Tuesday 17 October
your donation could be doubled. Localgiving’s Grow Your Tenner 2017 campaign
is focusing on monthly giving – to help local groups like
Hebden Bridge Arts Festival attract more long term supporters. It
would be great if you could support us - find out how here.
This
months popular Cafe Culture event will be on Thursday 12 October
and be led by John
Wallis who'll be bringing us live music to
accompany his talk about 'Variety in the
Wartime'. Tickets are £3 and £5 and refreshments and
homemade cake are served.
Other news...
We're
really excited to share that the Nova Collective have just got
funding from HRTC for their first big project ‘Disparate Youth’ –
an immersive youth community theatre project using real life
stories to illuminate the challenges facing kids growing up in
Hebden Bridge. The meet up is 7pm on Thursdays at
Arts Mill for anyone aged 18 - 30 keen to get involved.
The next installation to animate the Town Hall Courtyard will be Hannelora Johansen’s
Ballerina – look out for it from 15 November.
If you've not seen it already, do watch our lovely HBAF 2017
trailer (below) filmed by Sarah Mason - thanks to Sarah for
a lovely reminder of a great festival!
And finally not forgetting HBAF 2018 which will run from 22 June until 1 July,
our theme will be Nonconformism (Martin Parr already booked!)
and the ideas are coming in thick and fast so drop us a line if
you'd like to get involved.
Until next time...
