October at Slung Low HUB

With details of upcoming performances, here is the latest from Slung Low:

October's News from Slung Low

We can’t believe how quickly our year in Hull has passed, and that we are on the Dock again for another live chapter of our Flood epic with the City of Culture. This week we have been showing a stand alone performance of Flood, Part Four and on Tuesday we will hold a Dress Rehearsal of the Flood, Omnibus before we open on Wednesday 4th October.

You can recap on the start of the adventure with Flood: From the Sea (Part 1), a short film, online
here, have a look at all our information about the story so far here or buy tickets the omnibus via this link here.

On Sat 22nd October we're excited to be bringing you another How To...Festival. Our seventh offering has the theme "Make 'Em Laugh!"  so you can expect performances and workshops focusing on humour, comedy, clowning and merriment, as well as starting the day with the ever popular Cooking With Manjit. The line up is just being finalised at the time of writing so do keep an eye on
this page here.

The HUB Choir sessions will be starting up again on October 31st and meeting every Tuesday at 6:30pm up to and including December 5th. Express your interest and sign up here

As well as everything in the How To...Festival, there's a bumper crop of shows at the HUB to look forward to this month starting this Sunday 1st October with 20B by Jane English - a moving exploration of what home and community really mean and how it feels when these things are lost to regeneration, demolition and gentrification. This show has been attracting some cracking comments from audiences wherever its being performed.

Morecambe and Wise meets David Lynch in the riotously funny We Are Bronte which lands the following week on Sun 8th October.

We'll be teaming up with Love Arts Festival Leeds again to bring a "midweek special" on Thu 12 October with Yolanda Mercy's Quarter-Life Crisis (along with an exclusive sneak preview of Leeds' own Manic Chord Theatre's new show).

We're very excited to welcome Total Theatre Award winners Two Destination Language to the HUB for the first time on Sun 15 Oct when their show Manpower takes you on a romp through men, expectations, work and economics in the years since Britain voted to be part of Europe.
Dugout's Swansong on Sun 22nd promises to warm your heart, move your feet, treat your eyes, lighten your load and tickle your fancy.

We'll round of the month in true Halloween style with a return of the extremely popular Sing-Along-A-Wicker Man on Fri 27 Oct, and finally on Sun 29th Oct life-sized puppets, humanettes, shadow and live performance combine in the Japanese-horror movie influenced Kwaidan. Extra creepiness spills over into November (Movember?!) with The Haunted Moustache from the extremely charming Dr Bramwell.
Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates on our activities and adventures with FLOOD in Hull and at the HUB across the rest of the year.

See you soon
