Camelot: The Moor by James Phillips A reading of a new people's theatre play

Date: Saturday 26th September  Time: 5pm   What would you do to build the perfect world? What would you give up? Who would you betray? For 10 years, across theatre and film, Slung Low have created a unique saga. The story of a young woman, who calls herself Bear, and the new nation she built. Bear, who said she saw visions. Who said to go forward we must go back. Who led a revolution and changed the world. This is how the story ends. This Saturday, Slung Low and Leeds People’s Theatre present a special rehearsed reading of a new people’s theatre play Camelot: The Moor,  written by James Phillips.  The play takes place in the world first created in Camelot: The Shining City, which premiered at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield in 2015. Together with members of Leeds People’s Theatre we transferred from stage to screen with The Good Book (2020) and The Magician (2023). Join us this month to hear a company of Leeds People’s Theatre members and guest artists perform a script-in-hand reading of this epic new play at our Warehouse in Holbeck.  To be part of the audience please reserve your tickets using the button below. There are also opportunities for adults to take part and read alongside our guest artists as members of Leeds People's Theatre. We will be rehearsing together in our warehouse during the day on Saturday 26th September ahead of the 5pm reading. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact morven@slunglow.org.  Important Information The reading will be inside but the venue does reflect the weather outside so please dress for the weather. The Warehouse In Holbeck is on Crosby Street, Holbeck, LS11 9RQ. The entrance is on Rydall Place just round the corner. Audience access to the building will be available from 4.15pm. The nearest bus stop is on Top Moor Side and we have bike storage facilities. If travelling by car, please park on Ingram Road as parking immediately around the Warehouse is residents-only. There is no charge for on-street parking. Wheelchair users and those with limited mobility are welcome to park on Crosby Street.  The venue is step-free, with an accessible toilet and a baby-changing facility provided. There will be a bar as well a hot drinks available. The show is Pay What You Decide. You pay after the event, in cash or by card.
