We’ve had a few changes over the
break so please see below for further updates on our events:

Our very popular Professional
Development sessions will now be £35 for
non-members, but still free of charge for SoA members. Our Feel Good Friday
sessions will now be £5 for non-members but
still free of charge for SoA members.
·
Our Afternoon
Tea events will now be known as ‘How I
write/illustrate/translate – in conversation with…’.
These sessions along with our Industry Insider events
will still be free of charge for all, including a fully optional
donation option when you register.
·
The new charges will ensure that we can continue to deliver
exciting and topical events to members whilst offering access
to authors everywhere. The best value for full, free access to all
SoA events and recordings, is to join the SoA.

To start the year off we have a range of online and in person
events lined up for you.
Self-published author, Melissa
Addey hosts a session on how to make and use book
trailers as a way to further your author career and author Adam LeBor is
joined by Simon
Cann as he hosts the first part of his three part
series of workshops on online safety and security.
Our Sustainability
Network have their next online meeting where
members can have the chance to meet the network’s committee and
other fellow members.
And join us on Bedford Row where our Poetry and Spoken Word
Group (PSWG) host their next in-person Lates
events, a chance to meet and mingle with PSWG members, committee
and SoA staff.

Professional Development - How to
make and use book trailers

Melissa
Addey, a fulltime
self-published author, uses book trailers in lots of different ways
– and found that paid advertising didn’t work until she started
using videos rather than static images. Now she uses book trailers
from the very beginning of plotting a book all the way through to
launching a newly published book, and to boost sales at any time.

stay safe and secure online

editorial trainer, Adam
LeBor as he hosts his first of three
#SoAatHome sessions focusing on the safety and security of the
online world.
This first session as part of a three-series of workshops will show
you how to stay safe online, keep your social media accounts
secure, avoid being tracked or monitored, and step outside the
Google empire when researching.

Poetry and Spoken Word Group Lates

and Spoken Word Group (PSWG), for the chance to meet

£9.50 for SoA Members and £19.50 for non-members.

Author Photos
Thursday 6 March 2025
10.00-16.00
SoA members are offered the
chance to have a professional
author photo taken by photographer, Adrian Pope for
a fraction of the usual cost. The usual price for professional
headshots is around £200 or considerably more for a longer studio
session.
Come and update your headshot at the SoA offices on
Bedford Row – this is offered at a discounted price of £30, on a
first come, first served basis to members.

Come and meet the team, chat to our advisors and
Management Committee, and find out what we’re campaigning for this
year.
We have a limited number of discounted visitor tickets available to
SoA members. These are either for one day or all three days of the
fair. Please note that this code is only valid for the main book fair
from Tuesday
