Digital Spaces VR Tour

VR Tour

We are thrilled to announce that Bradford is one of the nine library services in England selected to participate in the groundbreaking Digital Spaces program. This innovative initiative, in collaboration with Arts Council England, BFI, with National Lottery Funding, and The Space, is set to launch in 2025 and promises to revolutionise digital engagement and accessibility in our libraries.

Get ready to be amazed by our new collection of VR experiences right here in your local library! Supported by the BFI with National Lottery funding, a national VR tour will visit our libraries twice throughout the year 29 March to 13 April and other dates to be confirmed, with a thrilling programme of VR experiences, including:

  • Wallace & Gromit in the Grand Getaway: Join the beloved characters on a new immersive adventure.
  • The Philharmonia Virtual Orchestra - The Lark Ascending: Experience a mesmerising 360-degree performance of Vaughan Williams's masterpiece featuring Nicola Benedetti.
  • Monoliths: Explore England's northern landscape through the voices of three women in this immersive XR experience by Pilot Theatre and One to One Development Trust.
  • Phase Space: a multi-sensory, immersive experience that provides immediate stress and anxiety relief by harnessing the power of VR to transport you to a place where you can relax and re-set your mind, emerging refreshed in just seven minutes.
  • Berlin Blitz: Join the crew to fly to the heart of Nazi-occupied Europe, as they endure endless flak and a night fighter attack. Listen to the original recordings documenting the terrible ordeal - a major night-time bombing raid over Berlin, described by Vaughan-Thomas as "the most beautifully horrible sight I've ever seen.'

We're also excited to collaborate with local communities and partners to develop and create an innovative new digital project. And, if you're a budding filmmaker or just curious about the process, you can dive into the world of 180-degree immersive filmmaking in hands-on masterclasses led by the talented team at Neon 8.

Sessions will take place at the following libraries.  No need to book, just drop in and choose your experience.
