Black
History Month
We are
celebrating BHM this October.
This year’s theme for Black History Month is
“Reclaiming Narratives,” and marks a significant shift towards
recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and
culture. By emphasising “Reclaiming Narratives,” we shine a
brighter light on our stories, allegories, and history.
Check out our curated collection on Libby
We'll be announcing our
upcoming BHM events on our Social Media.

MakerWord!
MakerWorld September 2024
MakerWorld from The Children’s Art School is offering
free fun, hands-on creativity for children and families on
Saturdays this term at the Piazza Centre in Huddersfield. The
activity makes use of the temporary space in the Piazza Centre and
in the Princess of Wales Shopping Centre in Dewsbury to bring art
activity into town centres.
The Children’s Art School has been delivering its
pioneering MakerWorld activities since 2015 – aimed at
engaging with children and families who wouldn’t usually access
high-quality arts opportunities.
The offer at MakerWorld includes free participatory
creative experiences inviting participants to experience the
joy of joint creative endeavour. Experienced facilitators deliver
family-centred creative opportunities which often lead to
high-quality collaborative community artworks. The choir –
MakerNoise – will take place alongside MakerWorld activities on
Saturday mornings and selected dates in half term holidays, as well
as a new evening skatepark offer for teens, MakerSkate.
