million pounds directly to musicians, we feel it's something

countless special performances at our little club and we can

Glengoyne
18
The Glengoyne distillery sits at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill near
Loch Lomond. Glengoyne's stills are Scotland's slowest, this
encourages the formation of "esters" giving Glengoyne
its characteristically sweet, fruity taste. No peat is used in the
barley drying process, allowing the subtle, complex flavours of
slow distillation and exquisite wood to shine through.
Glengoyne's natural colour comes from time and wood alone.
The 18yo is the result of eighteen long years aging, a generous
proportion of that in first-fill sherry casks.
Usual price per shot £29.64
Our Price per shot £6.57

Museum News
Earlier this week we
were on BBC Look North for a behind the scenes look at how our
transformational redevelopment is progressing.
As we prepare to
welcome you back in January 2025, just as Bradford becomes UK City of
Culture, we thought we’d take a moment to share a glimpse of what’s
to come with the museum’s transformation. One of the biggest changes
we’re making is to our main entrance and foyer space, which have been
remodeled to create a more welcoming space for you to relax in and
enjoy.
Speaking of 2025, the
initial programme for the UK City of Culture year has been announced.
Our highlights include a spectacular interactive installation
from experimental artist collective Marshmallow Laser Feast; Generate
Festival which will showcase digital artworks from young people
across Bradford, and a season celebrating women in film curated by
Yorkshire filmmaker Clio Barnard at Pictureville Cinema.
But before we get
there we've got a fantastic October lined up for you, with free
family activities and a film programme that truly rocks. Keep
scrolling to see what's on.

Hi
We're getting in touch to let you know that
the Yorkshire-based, radical theatre company Red Ladder are
returning to Huddersfield on Wed 23 - Thu 24 October with
their powerful and moving new musical, Sanctuary.
We are proud to welcome Sanctuary to our main stage as
we celebrate our new status as an official Theatre of
Sanctuary, a recognition of our dedication to creating a
welcoming and safe environment for refugees and asylum
seekers.
A vital story of one man’s hopes for help
and support in a time when not all strangers are welcomed, Sanctuary mixes hard-hitting
ideas with memorable melodic tunes and harmonies.
|
When Alland, a young Iranian man, begs to be
given sanctuary at St Mary’s church in a northern town, it
sparks a community to react in all the ways each member
believes to be right. Molly, a young worker there, joins
forces with vicar Fiona to resist both the angry vigilantes
and the hard-hearted authorities beyond the church walls to
try to protect Alland.
|
Holding a special community service where
voices on all sides sing their songs of redemption and
condemnation, Fiona asks the question to everyone
present: “Do we give Alland over to the State or live
up to our well-versed ideals of compassion?”
Written by Boff Whalley (We’re Not Going
Back) and award-winning playwright Sarah Woods’, Sanctuary also features a
chorus drawn from students at Wakefield’s CAPA College.
|
Take a
look behind-the-scenes
|
Dive into the rehearsal room and hear from
Red Ladder's Artistic Director, Cheryl Martin, as she
explains more about what you can expect from the show.

Five things to know about our next exhibition
|
|
|
|
Our next
exhibition opens in two weeks and we can't wait! Haegue
Yang: Leap Year explores a world of inventive, immersive
and multisensory installations and sculptures that weave
connections between histories, cultures and traditions.
Keep on reading to find out five key facts about
the internationally celebrated South Korean artist and her
works.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1.
Some of the artworks move around
A number of sculptures in the exhibition
sit on wheels, enabling them to be moved around the
Hayward Gallery at intervals during the exhibition.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
2.
Blinds leading to blinds
The exhibition features a new commission
featuring layers of Venetian blinds that guide visitors
through the space in a bath of light and colour.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
3.
Marginalised modernists are among Yang’s key influences
Yang draws from a wide range of
underrepresented yet pioneering figures of modernism,
including the textile designer, dancer and Dadaist
artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp, and spiritual composer and
dance teacher GI Gurdjieff.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
4.
Yang employs ancient traditions
Yang's work also uses traditional Korean
materials, such as her series of collages that feature
Hanji – a type of paper made from the bark of mulberry
trees which has been produced in Korea since ancient
times.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
5.
Making light works
Yang’s art works and installations often
feature a variety of household and industrial objects,
such as drying racks, hand-knitted yarn, metal-plated
bells, nylon pom-poms and light bulbs.

The pantomime adventure that grows and
grows!
Multi-award-winning actor Bill Ward,

soaps, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, is
headlining this year's panto as the giant's sidekick, Fleshcreep.

Harris as Muddles with Joe Standerline returning as Dame
Trott and Brian Blessed as the voice of Giant Blunderbore.
With nothing but a handful of magic beans,
Jack must find the courage to slay the evil giant in his quest to
win the hand of the Princess and free his village of tyranny
forever.
With Dame Dolly and Daisy the Cow, Silly
Simon and King Crumble adding plenty of comedy chaos and
calamities along the way, join our hero on the most magical
adventure as he climbs the beanstalk to Cloud Land!

NICOLA TALLIS
11th October 2024, 7:30pm
Join us on Friday 11th October for a special evening
event as Nicola Tallis celebrates her
latest book, ‘Young Elizabeth’ with us at Alnwick Castle!
Queenship was by no means a certain path for Henry VIII’s younger
daughter - by the time she claimed the throne, she had already
endured more tumult than many monarchs experienced in a lifetime.
This colourful and detailed biography charts Elizabeth’s turbulent
upbringing, exploring the dangers and tragedies that plagued her
early life, drawing on primary sources written by Elizabeth herself
to shed new light on this iconic queen.
Following the talk, Nicola will be answering audience questions and
signing copies of ‘Young Elizabeth’.
