Adventures: Imagined by children, created by Kirklees Libraries
Library Adventures: Reading

Library Adventures
is a free, year-round reading for pleasure programme for children aged
4-11.
Everyone who joins will be given an Adventurer pack to
accompany their reading journey. The pack contains six themes, chosen
by children across Kirklees, and each one wiil appear at a library near
you at some time over the next twelve months.
The themes and libraries for July and August are listed
below. Select the blue text or click on the image for reading lists
associated with each theme.
South Asian Heritage Momth seeks to commemorate, mark
and celebrate South Asian cultures, histories, and communities. It
seeks to understand the diverse heritage and cultures that continue to
link the UK with South Asia.
This year’s theme is Free to be Me celebrating the
beauty of simply being yourself.

Dagger in the
Library Award Winner: Anthony Horowitz
The Dagger in the Library is a prize for a body of work
by an established writer of crime fiction or non-fiction who has long
been popular with borrowers from libraries. It also rewards authors who
have supported libraries and their users through taking part in library
events.
The Dagger in the Library is awarded to an author
writing in Britain who is nominated by libraries and borrowers in the
UK and the Republic of Ireland and voted on by libraries.

Libraries' Resources: Go Citizen
Go Citizen is a study package for people preparing for
the Life in the UK or British citizenship test. Includes the latest
official study materials and hundreds of practice test questions.
Available online at all our libraries, at home or
wherever you are on the interweb.
This service is for residents who find it
difficult to get to their local library therefore making reading
possible for everyone.
The service is open to people of all ages and includes
people who may be housebound, living in long term care, are carers, or
people who are vulnerable due to long term conditions or disabilities.
Royal Voluntary Service, in
conjunction with Kirklees Libraries run a free home library delivery
service. We delivery library material every four weeks directly to the
reader's door.
We have a full range of library material, ordinary
print, large print books, audio books, dementia friendly books and
puzzles. We also have full access to the children's library and teen
section.
Our dedicated volunteers also offer a regular friendly
face, chat, and wellbeing check for anyone who may need it.

Our Kirklees Transcription Service produce a free audio
newspaper which provides news, views, interviews and features from
around Kirklees. It features a variety of stories from a selection of
local newspapers circulating in the area.
