Opera, satire and a touch of drag

Abomination: A DUP Opera

Abomination: A DUP Opera

FRI 5 – SUN 7 MAY

Revolutionary in form, Abomination centres on the scandalous live radio interview given by Northern Irish politician Iris Robinson, when she referred to homosexuality as an ‘abomination’. That moment is now part of Irish queer history.

This 21st-century opera is a riotous Northern Irish original with just a touch of drag, cabaret and plenty of political satire.

Jubilation in Jersey.

We'd love for you to join us!

Jersey is a little island packed with a whole lot of history. The island was occupied by German forces during WW2 for almost five years. British troops liberated the island on 09 May in 1945 and, each year since, Jersey has marked the occasion with jubilant events celebrating islanders' freedom. From high tea on the high street to sets from big name DJ's, why not extend the May bank holiday and join in the fun?

Rectangle: Rounded Corners: Get involved

A right royal weekend.

It's not only the island's Liberation we'll be celebrating this May. Along with the rest of Great Britain and the Commonwealth, we'll be raising a toast to the new King. As the crown jewel in the English Channel and the sunniest spot in the British Isles, where better to celebrate the King's Coronation bank holiday weekend?

Rectangle: Rounded Corners: Raise a toast

Delve deeper into Jersey's wartime history.

The Occupation of the island during WW2 left a lasting mark on the island's landscape. If you can't join us for Liberation Day, there are still plenty of ways to uncover stories of the island's past. Visit Jersey's historical landmarks that feature as part of Liberation Route Europe or immerse yourself in our wartime past with this three day itinerary.

Dining takes centre stage with an eclectic choice of options.
