PEW Literary is a new literary agency founded by
Patrick Walsh, an experienced agent who has helped a roll call of
best-selling and award-winning authors to launch their writing
lives.
After co-founding the hugely successful Conville
& Walsh literary agency in 2000, Patrick launched PEW
Literary with Margaret Halton, the distinguished agent and
translation rights’ professional, and John Ash, a dynamic young
agent who has built an exciting list. In a further expansion, PEW
Literary was joined by two highly experienced associate literary
agents, Doug Young and Eleanor Birne, who each previously had
senior roles at leading London publishers, and by Rebecca
Sandell, who has been assisting the company in its growth.
Eleanor is actively building a list of new writers
at PEW Literary. She is looking for writers from all backgrounds
and regions who have a unique story to tell — whether in fiction
or non-fiction. Before becoming an agent, Eleanor was Publishing
Director at John Murray where she published across literary
fiction and non-fiction. Prior to that, she was Editorial
Director at Duckworth Publishers. She started her publishing
career in the academic division at Macmillan Press and while at
university she worked as a bookseller.
