Dario Escobar:
Encrypted Messages, Almine Rech, New York
Guatemalan
artist Dario Escobar is showcasing his recent works in a debut at
Almine Rech Gallery, and his first exhibition in New York since
2018. Using discarded metal signs from eastern Guatemala and
southern Mexico, often peppered with bullet holes and rust,
Escobar’s work addresses the intersections of violence, decay,
and commerce, and is seeped in Guatemalan history and culture.
Closing on April 22, don’t miss your chance to experience these
unique pieces.

I found
Catherine to be both a delightful instructor and talented
writer. … I feel fortunate to have connected with her through
Litro. I still feel her influences on my writing life several
years later.

Former Student of Litro’s Flash Fiction Masterclass

Celebrating
Easter!
|

|
|
FROM THE ARCHIVES:
For Easter Sunday tomorrow, we’re reminded of “Blank and Sacred,” by Jacqueline
Kharouf. Published in Litro in 2015, it tells the story of an
Easter Sunday lunch, filled with desire, secrets and difficult
family relationships.
“Leah closed her eyes and allowed herself to forget—for a
moment—that she was drowning in the ice water of her own sadness.
Instead of hovering above the scene she decided to keep herself in
it, to stay present, feeling the proximity of another body—a
closeness incomplete only because of their clothes.”
