The smell of sunscreen. Smoothing a pebble between your hands. Jelly
shoes. The sound of seagulls. Or feeling that salty sting on your cheeks
from plunging in the sea with reckless abandon.
Maybe these are some of the things you feel nostalgic for if you spent
your childhood summers on the British coastline. Maybe that's why we keep
going back every year as adults again, despite the famously fickle
weather.
Here are a few British beach hotels, both old and new, we're booking

Creative Kirklees
Newsletter 29 June 2022
|
This weekend sees the return of the Cleckheaton Folk Festival
- from 1 to 3 July, the festival is back with a great line up of folk
music and dance. Take a look at their website and join in the fun!
Cultures of Place is running all
week until 4 July. Hosted across 3 sites - Queensgate Market, The Piazza
and the University of Huddersfield campus – the programme is a
celebratory showcase of exhibitions, installations, performances,
workshops, podcasts, talks and discussion about place.
Join Our Biennale 2022
on Saturday 2 July for a carnival celebration with exhibitions, parades,
performance, workshops, and flash mobs! The Magnificent Me Piazza Parade
will show the creations children and young people have produced with
Kirklees artists and arts organisations.
On 2 - 3
July the Lawrence Batley Theatre marks the day on 4 July 1981 when
thousands marched through the streets of Huddersfield for the first
national Pride. The Day
the World Came to Huddersfield is a series of
monologues by award-winning and local playwrights, based on people who
attended and the events of the day.
Holmfirth Art Week is back from
3 - 9 July. This Open Art Exhibition features over 400 exhibitors and
over 2,000 artworks, plus dozens of fringe venues across the local area –
not to be missed.
There are
lots more events and activities listed on the What’s On page on Creative Kirklees
and certainly plenty of music events
this weekend. We include as many as we can in our weekly newsletter but
there’s always more on the website
