SAVE THE DATE!

14 - 17 June 2021

Dear everyone -

It’s that time of year again! Looking back, it was around this time in 2020 when we launched our first virtual panel to address the immediate concerns presented by lockdown. So much of that time happened in a flurry - gathering amazing speakers, deciding which topics would be most useful, trying to understand how exactly you ran an event for 500 people on Zoom. Our week-long virtual conference followed, and as we bedded into this new way of working we loved how the community showed up in a whole new, radically collaborative way - to share ideas and to support each other like never before.

Planning for this year's conference - in partnership again with our friends at the BMS and PPC - is now underway. While we wish (again) we could be meeting you in person at the Barbican, we’re very excited to deliver a virtual programme that builds on that sense of collaboration and answers the question and challenges of this unique moment. As we enter a world that looks like it may well be all hybrid, all the time, we’ll address:

  • How teams can make decisions and allocate resource when both virtual and real world options become available

  • The future of the author tour in a hybrid landscape

  • What lessons we can take from 2020 (and what we’d like to leave behind)

  • What the possible return to ‘normal’ might mean for our mental health

  • How other industries have handled the challenges of the pandemic

  • What to embed, sustain and grow the progress we’ve made on diversity and inclusion

  • How to maximise our channels when speaking directly to readers

  • What bookshops need from us now

  • How to create unique events when one-size-fits-all will no longer do

  • And so, so much more

As always, we’d love to hear from you regarding what you’d like to see at this year’s conference, so do email miriam.robinson@thebookseller.com if you’d like to share your thoughts. We’ll be launching the full programme in early May, so keep an eye on your inbox!

See you in June!
