Cleckheaton Writers Group meeting, Monday 26 April 2021

The Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) met last night with Alice, Karen, Gemma and Neil in attendance, Sarah having passed on her apologies.

The minutes from the last meeting were passed.

WIP Updates: Karen has written more new chapters on her WIP as part of Bootcamp and CampNaNoWriMo, been editing and has entered two competitions. Alice has also been taking part in Bootcamp hitting her word target of 26k new words on Sunday. She's also been on a picture book course. Gemma has edited for 42 hours as part of Bootcamp. Neil has written a couple of hundred words on his short story/novella The Cubbyhole and some blog posts on writing.

Feedback: No-one had brought work for feedback.

CW comps/workshops/events: The Martin Crawford Awards for Poetry and Short Story 2021 is now open for entry (deadline Sunday 2 May), full details can be found on Twitter. #PitMad is coming up as is the children's WriteMentor version on 7 May. There is also a free Stay at Home Lit Fest coming up in Bradford that Karen will send details about via email to CWG members.

Writing plans: Karen hopes to hit her 26k words target for April on her WIP and continue editing. Neil hopes to finish his short story. Gemma aims for 50 hours of editing by the end of the month, then give herself a deadline for querying. Alice hopes to sort out her new book as she is stuck at the moment. A mind-map was suggested.

The next meeting will take place on Monday 10 May 2021 at 5.45pm on Zoom.
