With thanks to Country and Townhouse and All Events, here are some ideas of things to do this week in London and Leeds:
The best British bags for summer, and why everyone's
talking about Emerald Fennell

The excitement is palpable.
Tomorrow means a drink – with friends – in a venue other than
your own back patio! London, naturally, has risen to the occasion
with its incredible outdoor spaces all primped and primed to
welcome back humanity. From the revamped summer terrace at Scott's Mayfair to Harvey Nichols'
new Mediterranean-inspired gin pop-up high
above Knightsbridge, which rooftop will you be shouting
about it from?
Have a great week.

WHAT’S
KEEPING MY SPIRITS UP
|
|
Hair Care
I’m almost back to my
natural colour (a non-descript ‘dark blonde’). I want my highlights
back and I want them now. Getting a hair appointment is almost akin
to getting your first born into Eton – the waiting lists are long. But
boy will those scissors be flying tomorrow and salons like Hari’s have
launched a ‘Lock-Lifting Lineup’ of services, staying open seven days
a week with extended opening hours too. Safety comes first, of
course, but I for one am joining that queue.

Emerald Fennell
Is there anything this girl
can’t do? As the daughter of jeweller Theo Fennell, loved by
celebrities, I’ve watched her career from afar, but now with an Oscar
nomination under her belt, there is no stopping this talented tour de
force. Her searing writing has rippled through Killing Eve;
she smashed it as Camilla in The Crown and now her directorial
debut Promising Young Woman,
which she also wrote and which stars Carey Mulligan and has no less
than five Oscar nominations, is about to air on Sky Cinema (and Now
TV) on 16 April. Another jewel in the crown, no doubt. Image: Sky Pictures

Summer Bags
It’s time to shed the heavy
winter sack – not that we actually needed one at all in lockdown – we
weren’t going anywhere. Which makes it all the more fun to spoil yourself
with something stylish, new – and British – for summer. Here is my
pick of the best British summer bags.
