Netflix
feature ROMA previews in LIFF 2018 Central Film Event...

LIFF 2018 Central
Film Event:
Alfonso Cuarón's
ROMA
|
Netflix
feature ROMA has been announced as the LIFF 2018 Central Film
Event, with a special preview screening at Everyman Harrogate. The
most personal project to date from director and writer Alfonso
Cuarón (Gravity, Children of Men), ROMA chronicles a turbulent
year in the lives of a middle-class family in 1970s Mexico City.
Cuarón,
inspired by the women from his childhood, delivers an
extraordinary ode to the matriarchy that shaped his world. Filmed
in luminous black and white, ROMA is an intimate, gut-wrenching
and ultimately life-affirming portrait of the ways, small and
large, one family maintains its balance in a time of personal,
social and political strife.
ROMA will screen in 4K with Dolby Atmos at Everyman
Harrogate. Tickets on sale now.

November, 7pm. Everyman Harrogate

Sci-Fi Reads
Sci-fi
meets western in this steampunk story of grit and family.
The story follows six
people of varying backgrounds living and working together on a farm, one
threatened by the construction of the Union Pacific railroad.
The railroad wants
the land their farm is on, using creepy mechanical dogs to send their
messages instead of the Pony Express.
They continue to
be pestered for their land, knowing that holding on to it may be dangerous.

Up in Flames
Sponsored by:
Enjoying
the fall chill at a beach bonfire is a weekend delight. Wearing your favorite
sweater makes the night even better.
Accidents happen, trying to put out a fire is hard enough without becoming
nostalgic about the puff of smoke formerly known as your sweater.
Clothing going up in flames, especially in cooler weather, can be
particularly, err, chilling.
The good news is
that a great apartment insurance has you covered — with replacement cost
coverage.
Gotham insurance, making sure that your accidents don't empty your closet.

Hidden Warhol
The
Ukrainian Museum in New York City has acquired a collection of Andy Warhol’s
works from the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming for this
exhibition. The works are silkscreens done by Warhol in 1983 of endangered
animals.
These prints are
just as powerful today as they were then, highlighting how far we still have
to go to protect these animals.
The show also
includes pieces pertaining to Warhol’s early life and how he became the great
Avante-Garde artist that he was.
