Things to do this weekend in Leeds, London and New York

Not sure what to do this weekend? Well, if you can't make it to the Cleckheaton Literature Festival anthology launch, here are a few ideas for those of my followers who live in or near to Leeds, London and New York:

Netflix feature ROMA previews in LIFF 2018 Central Film Event...

LIFF 2018 Central Film Event:
Alfonso Cuarón's ROMA

Netflix feature ROMA has been announced as the LIFF 2018 Central Film Event, with a special preview screening at Everyman Harrogate. The most personal project to date from director and writer Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Children of Men), ROMA chronicles a turbulent year in the lives of a middle-class family in 1970s Mexico City.

Cuarón, inspired by the women from his childhood, delivers an extraordinary ode to the matriarchy that shaped his world. Filmed in luminous black and white, ROMA is an intimate, gut-wrenching and ultimately life-affirming portrait of the ways, small and large, one family maintains its balance in a time of personal, social and political strife.

ROMA will screen in 4K with Dolby Atmos at Everyman Harrogate. Tickets on sale now.

Fri 9 November, 7pm. Everyman Harrogate

Pond Life + Cast and crew Q&A

Pond Life is a perfectly formed coming of age tale set in a quiet mining village outside Doncaster in the mid 90s, with breakout performances from a talented cast of young actors. First time director Bill Buckhurst imbues his tale with considerable warmth and charm, as young friends and neighbours come together for a fishing expedition, after rumours spread of a giant carp in the area. With cast and crew in attendance for a Q&A. Tickets

Hello New Yorkers,
The wet and colorful scenery in New York has attracted clusters of people for strolls through Central Park. The autumn leaves also attracted the rare and captivating Mandarin Duck. Confused and excited commuters followed the whereabouts of this international traveler, eager to figure out how it made its way to city waters.🦆😍📸
A secret "homemade "cornbread casserole recipe has leaked and it’s ready to brighten up your kitchen table. Golden and warm cornbread is tasty and a great addition to most meals, but this delicious casserole elevated the staple. Find out where the recipe really originated and how you can cook it up yourself with Bon Appetit magazine.🍞😁😋
Thanksgiving doesn’t come together every year, with complicated schedules and oversized social circles. If you want to opt out of the circus that is Thanksgiving menu creation, grocery shopping, hours of cooking and planning, just visit one of these locations! Grub Street’s rounded up places to eat on Thanksgiving in NYC.🥧🍾🍴
Spoiled NYC is glad to bring you this collection of music, art, literature and culture goodies and we hope it’s brought you a giggle.
Musical Vibe: Bazzi - Beautiful

Stay Dry
Just because it’s cold now doesn’t mean you should upgrade your Hulu account.
Living in NYC means there is always something to do, whether its a concert or an art opening, a comedy show or a food event, we’ve got you covered.
Make Pizza, Drink Wine
Since we had such a great time earlier this month for our past two events, we're coming back for more, more, more!
Consider this your formal invite (yes, once again) to Kesté Pizza & Vino’s pizza-making classes, Make Pizza Drink Wine, going down from 7 PM to 10 PM on the following Friday nights: November 16th, November 30th, and December 14th!
spoiled Sounds
Young, full of passion, and opening for the likes of Skrillex and Zed’s Dead, Callie Reiff does it all. A drummer and a producer, Reiff is best known for her skills as a DJ.
She says that music helps to drown out the noise of the rest of the world to help you find your inner feelings that make you happy.
She hopes to help bring equality to the music industry, especially in a DJing world dominated primarily by men.
Sci-Fi Reads
Sci-fi meets western in this steampunk story of grit and family.
The story follows six people of varying backgrounds living and working together on a farm, one threatened by the construction of the Union Pacific railroad.
The railroad wants the land their farm is on, using creepy mechanical dogs to send their messages instead of the Pony Express.
They continue to be pestered for their land, knowing that holding on to it may be dangerous.
Up in Flames
Sponsored by:

Enjoying the fall chill at a beach bonfire is a weekend delight. Wearing your favorite sweater makes the night even better.

Accidents happen, trying to put out a fire is hard enough without becoming nostalgic about the puff of smoke formerly known as your sweater.

Clothing going up in flames, especially in cooler weather, can be particularly, err, chilling.
The good news is that a great apartment insurance has you covered — with replacement cost coverage.

Gotham insurance, making sure that your accidents don't empty your closet.
Hidden Warhol
The Ukrainian Museum in New York City has acquired a collection of Andy Warhol’s works from the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming for this exhibition. The works are silkscreens done by Warhol in 1983 of endangered animals.
These prints are just as powerful today as they were then, highlighting how far we still have to go to protect these animals.
The show also includes pieces pertaining to Warhol’s early life and how he became the great Avante-Garde artist that he was.
This Weekend
Presented by Saatchi Art the fair will showcase 130 talented independent and emerging artists, each handpicked by a committee of art world experts. Art lovers can visit the fair with confidence that they are buying from the very best and most promising emerging artists in a unique and immersive experience.
