Embroidered Stories: Scottish Samplers now open Our new free exhibition Embroidered Stories: Scottish Samplers opens today, showcasing an extraordinary collection of Scottish needlework from the 18th and 19th centuries. Made by girls and occasionally boys as part of their education, samplers are small pieces of needlework containing a wealth of information about education, family, religion and contemporary events.
