NORDIC FEATURES AT LIFF 2024

A woman binds the breast of another women in tight bandages.

Films from the Nordic countries are always popular at LIFF, and we have four outstanding features in this year’s programme.

From Norway, we present the multi-award-winning marital drama Loveable and the candid comedy drama Sex. When the Light Breaks is a story of friendship, grief and secrecy set against the breathtaking Icelandic scenery. Finally, The Girl with the Needle is a gripping and chilling drama set in Copenhagen soon after World War I.

RENÉ LALOUX DOUBLE BILL

The films of French writer and director René Laloux (1929-2004) remain a huge inspiration on animation.

At LIFF 2024 we present a double bill celebration of Laloux’s work, with the mesmerising psychedelic sci-fi Fantastic Planet (1973) and the UK Premiere of the new 4K restoration of existentialist space adventure Time Masters (1982).

The films are screening at Hyde Park Picture House in the afternoon on Saturday 3 November, and both are rated PG.

From the makers of previous LIFF audience favourites Bad Genius and Fast & Feel Love, How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies is the Thai box office hit about a college dropout's growing bond with his terminally-ill grandma.

You can see it first at LIFF2024, with screenings on 2 November at Cottage Road Cinema and 12 & 14 November at Vue in The Light.
