Cleckheaton Writers Group (CWG) met on Monday 11 November at 5.30-7pm in Cleckheaton Library with David, Karen and Reuben in attendance, Barbara, Kathy and Molly having passed on their apologies.

The minutes were passed from the previous meeting.

WIP updates: Karen has been concentrating on work for her own business. Reuben tried to rewrite a chapter and hit a brick wall but has now got a solution and explained his idea for a new project. David has been getting Changing Tastes ready for the Bruntwood submission and written a 7-800 word short story for Listening to Frogs and a 6-700 word Bonfire night piece for the Writing Challenge which he brought along for feedback.

CW comps/workshops/events: Anna Chilvers writing courses (see pages 3-5), Beth Kempton Summer Light (self paced) information on FB or Insta, 10 week creative writing course Bradford Libraries September 2024, Write Your Novel Course 6 weeks Shipley Library 19 September, an opportunity to take part in poetry reading and discussion: https://sway.cloud.microsoft/deiUQPr6USUPbXrI?ref=Link&loc=play, Wakefield Trinity PYA Book Fair 7 December and Scarborough Writers Retreat July 2025

Writing plans: Karen will be continuing work on her own business. Reuben will rewrite his chapter. David will be working on Changing Tastes.

Feedback sessions: David shared his story on Changing Tastes which lead to an interesting discussion on what is and what isn't controversial in a story. He then shared his Writing Challenge piece which brough back some lovely 5th of November nostalgia.

Next meeting/Christmas Do will take place on 9 December (to be decided at 25 November meeting).

There will then be a break for Christmas/New Year with suggested return of Monday 6 January 2025.
