Josie Long: Re-Enchantment

Thursday 22 June 2023
Performance Time: 7:30pm

“Articulate, passionate and intense, but heartwarmingly funny, too.”
★★★★ Evening Standard

"After defeat, re-enchantment is necessary", said Lola Olufemi.

This thought inspires Josie Long's brand-new show of stand-up infused with humanity, compassion and some brief political rants. The triple Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, underdog Fringe hero and delirious new mother (the first person to have two babies) returns with a show about the changes wrought by time, passion, moving to Scotland, and loving the world under - let's face it - difficult circumstances.

WHAT THE PRESS HAS SAID ABOUT JOSIE:

"A near-constant hour of laughs."
★★★★ The Scotsman

“Stunning, riotously hilarious.”
★★★★★ The Skinny

“Hopeful...and a good dose of joy and silliness!”
★★★★★ Funny Women

“Deliberate, pitch-perfect turn of phrase – and the jokes-per-minute counter is huge...a much-needed beacon of hope above right-wingery, climate disaster and despair.”
★★★★ Fest Mag

“A playful and intelligent hour...lots of recurring gags, cheeky asides and some playful chat with a plush seal.”
★★★★★ One4Review

Open Space 70 features a weekend Arts Trail

Taking you to a variety of borrowed spaces in and around Hebden Bridge you’ll experience creative work made locally on the themes of climate emergency, our environment, local nature, and creative responses to the challenges the earth faces.

Work in the Arts Trail has been created by local people, whether in response to our open call, at one of our Creative Workshop or Courses, the Allotment Arts project, and by our nine Engaging Neighbourhoods groups.

An open exhibition of work at Northlight Art Studios, a selection of short film screenings, outdoor musical performances, and an installation at the Hebden Bridge Bowling Club Pavilion are just some of the things you can look forward to.

Most venues will be open from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July so you’ll be able to explore at your own pace.

Arts Trail passes are free for those under 18, and on a pay-what-you-can basis for those aged 18 and over. An Arts Trail Pass will admit you to all of the Arts Trail venues, which will soon be announced on our website and available as a printed map in early July.
