Open Space 70 features a weekend Arts Trail

Taking you to a variety of borrowed spaces in and around Hebden Bridge you’ll experience creative work made locally on the themes of climate emergency, our environment, local nature, and creative responses to the challenges the earth faces.

Work in the Arts Trail has been created by local people, whether in response to our open call, at one of our Creative Workshop or Courses, the Allotment Arts project, and by our nine Engaging Neighbourhoods groups.

An open exhibition of work at Northlight Art Studios, a selection of short film screenings, outdoor musical performances, and an installation at the Hebden Bridge Bowling Club Pavilion are just some of the things you can look forward to.

Most venues will be open from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July so you’ll be able to explore at your own pace.

Arts Trail passes are free for those under 18, and on a pay-what-you-can basis for those aged 18 and over. An Arts Trail Pass will admit you to all of the Arts Trail venues, which will soon be announced on our website and available as a printed map in early July.

Introducing: Bodies of Water
Make a percussion protest piece

Did you know the Calder River is no. 2 on the sewage dumping charts in the UK?

Are you concerned about the pollution of our rivers? An environmental champion that feels frustrated? A wild swimmer who understands the importance of nature? Or just someone who wants to make a difference?

Amplify your voice, create a splash and make some noise!
Join percussionist, composer and producer Delia Stevens as part of a small ensemble of people who want to be able to use our local waterways safely. Help to create sound pieces and soundscapes over two Tuesday evening workshops, to be performed as part of Open Space 70 festival in the Town Hall on Sunday 16 July (you'll be needed from 9am to 1pm on this day). This short course is suitable for those age 16+

Workshops: Tues 20 & 27 June, 7-9pm
Rehearsal: Sun 16 July 9-10am
Performances: Sun 16 July 10.30am and 12.30pm
